i'm 18+ weeks pregnant with my second baby; dd is 4 in january. has anyone got any useful advice / experience / tips ? .. my dp is currently not with us for reasons i wont go into so i'm doing the pregnancy alone and also looking after dd.. i'm just finding the tiredness almost unbearable! i work and i'm doing the house on my own (dp used to be brilliant at tidying and washing up) and coping with all the emotional stuff too.. just can't ever seem to catch up on enough rest and yet when i lie down to sleep at night i can't get to sleep.. any practical suggestions welcome

this isn't a practical suggestion but I just wanted to say: bloody well done you. That is a heck of a lot to deal with, and hats off to you, lady.

Specifically on the housework score, have you thought about joining our daily Fly thread ? The purpose of Flylady is to allow you to get control of the housework and not go stir crazy, so I think you could benefit from it. My other suggestion is "bugger the housework" - your rest is far more important.

Not being able to sleep in pregnancy is a bit of a bugger as you are so limited as to what you can do about it. But I wonder again if not being overwhelmed by all the 'to do' items on your mental list might make it easier to relax. Failing that, how about a relaxation CD or two, some quiet time and breathing exercises before you go to sleep?

Keep posting, you will get lots of useful advice. And best of luck to you!

Hi cath. Come and join us here on the March antenatal thread.

We're all supporting one another through all sorts of stuff at the moment.

Are you due at the end of March or early April? There's an April one too.

thanx tribpot and i especially like your second housework suggestion, will make sure to bear that one in mind!! i've invested in a cleaning lady to come 2 hrs a week but it's more the daily grind that i hate; i just don't want to do it every day. for the first time in my life i am actually dreaming about dishwashers

i've joined the march thread, too, whoowhoo
