Induction for first=induction for second? Experiences??

Hi all,

I'm 38+5 with my second.
I was 12 days overdue with my first and was induced. ( took pessary, then three lots of gel and 48hra before I was 1cm - they then broke my waters and 24hrs later I had my dc via forceps, epidiotomy and PPH)

Needless to say I'm hoping for a better experience this time however as time gets nearer im almost resigned to the fact I'll have to be induced again - and this is heightening my anxiety that history will repeat itself ( silly I know!)

I just wondered what others experiences were?
Did anyone have such a long induction first time and quick responsibe labour the second?
Are the chances high I'll need inducing again?

Thanks ladies

My sister had induction (and long labour for first), short easy home birth for second.

My first was an induction 2 week over. I was 2cm already so had a pessary first as labour ward was so busy, then next morning they broke my waters. That ended up in an heomorhage in labour and a pph too.

My second was spontanious, but long he was back to back, so it started on my due date and I had him at 40+5. But I preffered it over my first delivery.

I had my first 2 spontaneously then was induced with my third. It was a quick induction. My fourth was spontaneous as well and I got to the hospital at 8cm, it was fairly quick and easily manageable, I had a bit of g&a. All were overdue.

I think that's what it boils down to. Existing problems in the pregnancy, a distressed baby or just that you are very overdue. I don't think having a previous induction is a guarantee that you will need another.

Induced with first and sweep worked with second. Good luck.
