Been trying since Jan but didn't think i was pregnant this month as had been busy and actually only dtd twice . So anyway had some matresses (single and double delivered )delivered Tuesday 10th March and rather than pay the extortionate fees for the delivery men to carry them up the stairs or wait for DH to get home (I am impatient) I decided I could do it myself. It was bloody hard work and I'd of been straining loads!

Did a clear blue digital that says in 1-2 weeks gone yesterday. I guess I just need reassurance that I haven't hurt my baby. DH changed the sheet on DS' bed and said it was really heavy and he can't believe I did them both by myself.

I spent the whole of my last pregnancy worrying about the baby and I'm on course to be doing it again!

Thanks guys!

As far as I know, at least at this stage, it's not the baby that's at risk with heavy lifting, it's you. This is because a pregnant woman can more easily strain something than usual, so it's more likely for you to pull something or hurt yourself than when not pregnant.

For this reason I would avoid doing heavy lifting when not necessary, but try not to worry about it harming the baby. It's well protected in there! Not that that stops me...Hmm

Your baby is so tiny I really wouldn't worry and yes it's the damage to you that's more important as the elastin relaxes all your stretchy areas. If you haven't hurt yourself then all well.

We did a bedroom swap recently and I was lugging wardrobes around, building beds, moving mattresses and painting for a good 2 weeks before I found out is have been 3/4 weeks pregnant
Midwife says at this stage it is fine, lots if people still lift weights/do sit ups etc unknowingly so not to worry
But now you know just take it a bit easier

Our bodies are very clever and very strong, you can move stuff all you like for as long as you feel comfortable.
Plus your baby is about the size of a currant at best, so is pretty impervious to any harm from lifting!

I have the logical side of my brain that tells me all this...then I have this other bastard side that makes me worry all the time! Thank you guys sometimes it just helps to hear someone else say it! Xx
