When do Braxton Hicks start then? Or am I just impatient??

Hello - I'm about 35 weeks and wondering if I 'should' be getting Braxton Hicks by now? If not, when? Do most people get them or are they 'optional' Thanks!

I dont think I had any.... a few at 37 according to doctor, but, I didnt feel them.

MKG · 29/10/2006 15:10

I never had any.

julezboo · 29/10/2006 15:13

ive had them since 16 weeks! Gradually getting more noticable. But I know other people who are on 34 weeks now and still not felt them.

tribpot · 29/10/2006 15:14

I never had any either. Was quite pleased as I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to tell whether they were BHs or the real thing and would have been bouncing in and out of hospital, annoying everyone!

loads from 20 weeks in 2nd pregnancy.....very strong towards the end, to the point would not be able to walk!!!

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 15:29

i had loads w/both girls. Worse w/the second pregnancy.

Like Lulu, I had ones at the end that made it hard to walk.

Thanks - despite lots of Mumsnetting I obviously still haven't worked out that, just because something's in all the books, doesn't mean it happens to everyone!!

Varies greatly
some people have none, others get loads
I got loads, less with 1st pregnancy - from about 28 weeks, getting very strong by the end.
With 2nd got them from 19 weeks, had a fewf alse alarms courtesy of them.
Am 20 weeks now and nothing...
they can be quite confusing as well
Gosh 5 weeks to go Smittals HOw exciting for you!!!!

Exciting oh yes - I am getting very impatient now! Got our first antenatal class tonight so hopefully will show up any glaring holes in our preparation..er...such as it is! Beloved DH still hasn't managed to read up on ANYTHING so if it just helps him with a few pointers that will be a start.

Didn't get them at all with ds. With this second pg they started at about 22 or 24 weeks but then have subsided. I'm now at 33 weeks. Wondering if they'll be starting up again soon. I have to say, I found them to be uncomfortable and rather disconcerting, so would be fine if they didn't show up again!
