Hip and joint pains

Hi All,

I am desperate for a bit of help or reassurance.
I am 36 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I am having really bad hip and pubic pain.

Turning over in bed is incredibly painful as my hips click and grind. Basically I am in constant pain between my legs and it's starting to make me panic about giving birth as I can't open my legs very wide now.

Has anyone else suffered from this?
I am seeing my midwife on Tuesday and I'm not sure how to explain to her what's going on- any ideas?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Don't know much about the subject but could it be this ?

Thanks Bumperlicious

Doesn't sound great does it!
I hope my midwife is sympathetic on Tuesday.

I've just been referred to the Physio with the same symptoms and its SPD. Turning over in bed is the hardest part but mention it to your midwife and she will probably refer you. I've been given a big elastic belt to help support my pelvis and some exercises to do. I'm 30 weeks at the moment.

Hi pinkchuchi
I'm a physio with this problem myself and demand (or ask nicely, whatever works) for an urgent referral to women's health physio. A decent outpatinet physio would do if no women's health one available but not as good.
Good position for giving birth with this problem is lying on your side with your knees drawn up to you and supported in a parallel position, then baby can pop out behind (as if you were on all fours).
It is known as pelvic girdle pain/dysfunction or SPD (symphis pubic dysfunction).

Hope that helps - good luck!
