I'm really confused about what foods I can eat and can't eat but my biggest one is mayonnaise! I LOVE Mayo! I literally have it with everything! Do I need to stop eating it? I've heard different opinions! Thanks

I was told by the midwife that it is home made Mayo that we need to avoid. Hellmans etc are fine!

Congratulations! I love mayo too and to my knowledge (someone might come along with more) you can have Hellmans mayo, but not homemade mayo which will have raw egg. So best asking in a restaurant first in case they make their own, but chips and Hellmans is fine.....

The NHS website is good for guidance on food if you want a reliable source?

Issue with mayo is homemade it can contain raw eggs, and there is a small risk they might be infected with salmonella, so check in restaurants. Shop bought mayo is made with pasteurised eggs therefore any infection has been killed off and its fine to eat.

Woohoo I am so glad to hear this! I can keep eating my Mayo! Grin Lol. Thanks folks. Just wanted to make sure. I've been googling what foods I can and can't have! Mayo was the big one tho! Slightly gutted about tea as well for the caffeine!

Yorkshire Decaf is a great tea - even my DH has been converted! Just make sure to steep for at least 3 minutes and enjoy :)

i went and bought all the hellmans different flavours to make up for missing other things! the cracked black pepper and spark of chilli are my favourites.

congratulations!

You can eat any mayo. Even home-made, wiht raw eggs is fine since UK eggs are free from salmonella. This is based on very old advice from the days when there used to be salmonella in eggs.

You can also drink tea.

That's good to know Gemerema! I can probably survive on 2 mugs, 1 before I leave my house and 1 when I get to work Smile the only other juice I really drink is diet coke but obviously don't want to be drinking that all day at work so got diluting juice as I seem to be super thirsty just now!
