As I'm planning to bf I'm looking for some pretty nursing bras. If they even exists. Can anyone recommend somewhere that sells nice ones that won't make me look like I'm wearing my grans bra! Grin

Also some that aren't overpriced!

I like slightly padded tshirt bras so got a couple of nursing ones in that style Fam M&S. Nothing fancy but they gave a nice shape and a smooth line under clothes, which was important to me as I've always hated that visible bra line look!

If you're after something pretty then there are lots on Figleaves.com from Cake and Elle MacPherson.

People reading similar posts must be tired seeing me harping on about it, but I just can't help it. Forget nursing bras, they are the work of devil, even the best ones will give you a sweaty droopy monoboob, and overpriced to boot.

Buy your normal, favourite bras from ebay, amazon, brastop and similar discount sites. Get nursing bra conversion clips and convert them into nursing bras yourself - easy to do even if you have no sewing skills. And voila - pretty, supportive nursing bras that won't cost an arm.

Most of the bras I own now can change into strapless bras where they just unclip. Could I just continue using these and just undoing the front clip to feed?

In principle - a couple of issues I can think of:

Your boobs are likely to get bigger when milk comes in, mine went up a good few cup sizes. Nursing bra clips can usually be unclipped and clipped with one hand. Strapless ones are a bit more fiddly. And also, nursing bras usually have an extra piece of strap, that keeps the main strap from slipping over your shoulder and disappearing from reach. You could sew this on your usual bras though.

This sounds like a fab idea hazlenutt. Do you have a link to show an incompetent craftsperson what I need to buy/do?

EffinIneffable · 16/03/2015 23:23

Reckon even i can do that! thanks
