I've recently bought a Doppler for peace of mind as I have a past of miscarrying I'm 11weeks today with my 12 week scan on 31st exciting but I'm struggling to find hb on my Doppler I'm a larger lady so I don't know if that has anything to do with it would like to know when you first heard you little ones hb

I would think it would be quite rare to be able to find hb with home Doppler so early. As Tori said, midwives usually don't even try at 16w appointments any more, and they are professionals with professional equipment. Honestly those dopplers cause more worry than anything.

Thank you very much for replying it's so worrying when you can't find it but the only sound I can really pick up is the whooshing of my placenta which I've taken as a good sign I'm sure I hear like horses galloping behind it very faintly but couldn't get at a good angle to hear it again

I agree they are more stressful than what they are worth my husband bought it me for peace if mind as we had a miscarriage last June and it was a missed miscarriage so now I'm even more worried I can't wait for my 12 week scan heartbeat has already been present at 6w+3 and also 8w+4 im just a nervous wreck

if you already saw the heartbeat at 8 weeks, the chances of anything being wrong are very, very small - I think about 1%.

I used the Doppler in my first pregnancy, and even when I was quite far along, did only manage to find the hb in about half the times I tried. I know it's easier said than done, but try to relax - 99% sure that all will be fine.

I think I'm getting more worried because it's coming up to the time when I lost my first at 14+5 due to a uti so I think my emotions are all over the place my son will be two in May so think that's also playing on my over active brain lol

11 weeks but it was the first time I tried so don't know if I could have earlier. Took a while the first time. Point it right down behind your pelvic bone and tilt it around tiny amounts in all directions before moving position, again a tiny amount.

I'm sorry that you've had a tough time. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Please be really careful of home dopplers. Even the most experienced midwives can struggle to find a heartbeat, especially so early on. Never ever rely on the Doppler for reassurance if you have any other reason to be concerned. It's very easy to pick up your own heartbeat by mistake.

I think I'm best to go in my holiday on Friday and then come back and see if I can find anything then I'll be 12weeks 4days then
