Douching with Cyteal Solution (11weeks)

I've posted before about my lack of confidence in my ob/gyn, living in the Middle East so having a very different pregnancy experience this time round.

Back to doc for blood/urine results, slight infection showing so she prescribed Cyteal solution twice a day. Im one of the lucky people who's never had a yeast infection (but I have had bacterial vaginosis a few years ago) so really don't want to go messing around down there!

Over here they advise against douching as anything you introduce into your body carrries a risk of infection ... We get told not to use the applicator that comes with a thrush cream for the same reasons ... why prescribe a douche rather than a cream?

Thanks blackwidow, suppose I'm again looking for reassurance that if I was in the UK they wouldn't prescribe these things therefore I'm not doing myself any great harm in ignoring doctors advice!

Is it prescribed to deal with a yeast infection? Try Canestan first perhaps.

Defo no prescribed douching here in UK ... Canestan cream or natural yoghurt is a better way to go ... In this instance I would trust what you know works :)

Is it a uti you have? Can you ask for antibiotics instead?

I believe in the US they also advise against douching, especially during pregnancy.

She said there's an infection showing down there (vaguely gestured to nether regions) so not actually got a clue. Dont have any symptoms, so doubt it yeast infection. Surely I'd notice a uti? Definitely seeing a different gynae next time.
