So ive written about this before but just wanted to update. Have gained exactly 3stone now at 34 weeks. Starting to stress about it. Anyone else in a similar boat?

I'm 16 weeks and have no intention of stepping on the scales (unless under duress from medical professionals - and even then with my fingers in my ears until it's over) for at least the next 6 months Grin

At 34 weeks there must be a good amount of baby in there so as long as you're ok, baby's ok and you're both getting the nutrients you need that's got to be what's important?

BitchPeas · 15/03/2015 20:10

I've gained 1.5 stone at 35 weeks. Second pregnancy.

I gained 5 stone!!! With my first, lost it all in 9 months without much hard work (lost a stone immediately, lots of fluid I think)

Try not to stress. Smile

Me too! 3 stone at my 36 week app last week. Could've killed my midwife when she asked me to "jump" on the scales. Cow.

FrankieFrankie · 15/03/2015 20:33

I put on 3 stone in my first pregnancy - wasn't worried about it at the time but although 2 stone disappeared pretty quickly, the last stone took nearly a year to shift. This time I was going to do it all differently and make sure I didn't put on so much but at 25 weeks I have already put on a stone and a half so I suspect it will be the same. Maybe it is just what our bodies need to get through the process? I don't think there is much point worrying about it really! Grin

My MW says they don't weigh you anymore!!!

crazycatlady82 · 15/03/2015 21:28

I have been weighing myself daily (DH says I have a degree of OCD although unfortunately it doesn't stretch to manic house cleaning, that would be useful!)

I am 9 weeks today and have gained 2lbs.

I have been on a shopping spree to buy looser work trousers and a few more 'accommodating' dresses for when they are required.

My trusty book tells me recommended weight gain is 1st 11lb to 2st 7lb but I think in reality people vary greatly. Just like we are all different heights, shapes and sizes our weight gains in pregnancy can vary greatly too Smile

Racheyg · 15/03/2015 21:56

I am 30 weeks and have gained 2 1/2 stone. I still had 1 1/2 stone of ds1 to lose so it's not looking good for me Sad

I had a growth scan at 28 weeks and they estimated he weights around 3lb already.

Not long to go :) x

hopefull2424 · 16/03/2015 07:25

This is my third dc. I had hg this time so lost about 18 lbs in the first trimester. I weighed in yesterday and have put on 3lbs (from my lowest weigjt) in the lay 2 weeks . I'm now 22 weeks. My mid wife was very good saying that not to worry about weight loss or gain as long as you and baby are doing well. Try not to worry to much xx

Tugstonia · 16/03/2015 08:32

I put on 4 stone (at least) with first pregnancy and lost it all and more within 9 months (with a lot of hard work). This time I have put on about 3.5 stone and am 38+6. Don't stress!

Number3cometome · 16/03/2015 10:16

I am 22 weeks and my weight gain so far is 1st 11lb

I did feel really shit about this when I weighed the other day, but I am actually in the same size jeans (although maternity) by my arms, belly and boobs are bigger.

I am not overeating. I gained 3 stone with DS1 and 4 stone with DD so expect this will be the sane.

I did lose the weight afterwards and started off lighter this time.

jaykay34 · 16/03/2015 11:00

Don't worry.

With my twins, I put on 3 stone and lost all within 6 weeks (they were both 6.8 lbs). I was only 8 and a half stone to begin with and 22 years old. Got a few stretchmarks on my belly and belly button reduced to a line but no real lasting damage.

Second pregnancy, aged 34 - weighed 10 stone to begin with - put on 4 stone (baby weighed 8lb 11). After i had him, back of my legs were covered in cellulite and back was saggy below bra strap.
Now he is nearly 6 months old and I have lost all the weight and have the same stretchmarks/line belly button as after the twins but the saggy back and cellulite have gone.

I think I carried a lot of fluid second time around ( and also overindulged). I was so ashamed that I put on so much weight, but both my midwife and HV told me "3 - 5 stone is the norm - however most people only admit to putting on two" Wink .

MelB2014 · 16/03/2015 12:58

I am just over 10 weeks and cried after I got weighed at my booking in appointment last week. I have put on 3/4 stone since December (when I had a MC and have generally not been eating that well/exercising as normal). 1/2 stone of that has gone on in the last few weeks though.

I've gone up a clothes size and had to go shopping on Saturday to buy bigger clothes. I am so down about it but my husband keeps telling me that it's fine.

I am hoping most of it is water retention as I'm constantly thirsty and drinking 4-5 pints and definitely not peeing out that much.

I am trying not to think about gaining even more weight...

birchwoods · 16/03/2015 14:45

I'm 19+2 and already look like a blimp! I was 8st 12 when I got pregnant, weighed myself about two weeks ago and was 10st 2!!! That's a gain of 17lbs and I wasn't even half way. I am noticeable bigger, my thighs are enormous, boobs are monstrous and as I have quite a short body (I'm 5'4.5") my entire middle section just looks round and massive. This, compared to my SIL who is about to have her third baby, is about 5'10" and barely look any different except for a bump. My MIL told me the other day that after giving birth to my DH and his twin brother, she left the hospital in her pre-pregnancy jeans...thanks for that. They're all tall and slim with ridiculous metabolisms, I'm short, dumpy and greedy. It's getting me down a bit but I've just decided to deal with it when the baby is here! My MW said a lot of the weight we put on early on is water anyway so I'm sticking with that!

Pyjamaramadrama · 16/03/2015 16:13

I'm 28 weeks and have put on around 20lbs. A couple of weeks ago I weighed myself and was quite shocked at my weight gain however I had been over eating and sitting on my bum too much.

It's triggered me to eat a bit better and I've started going swimming. But now I keep weighing myself which isn't a good thing.

Probably best to just ignore the scales and concentrate on eating reasonably healthily but don't deprive yourself of a treat.

Chocoholic26 · 16/03/2015 16:35

Thanks ladies, glad I'm not alone. I put on a stone on holiday last year (all inclusive) and then fell pregnant. I then had terrible sickness for first 16weeks and didn't gain a lb, feeling pleased I have definitely over indulged since regaining my appetite. My exercise regime has also been non existant. When I was ill I couldn't do anything and now feel I can't re start something rigorous I was doing before. Ugh, hopefully I'll lose a bt when baby is born and then really have to work on the rest xx
