Hi. I need to get a new travel system as am due in around 19 weeks. However i only have a limited budget and a ford ka!!
Some systems are massively expensive, and there is no way i can afford them. Saw an ideal system on the argos site in the baby sale today but out if stock.
Does anybody have any recommendations for a cheap but not flimsy travel system.
Seem to be getting nowhere looking online yet.
Many thanks in advance.

What is your budget? If I had a limited budget I would probably by a from birth stroller like the Maclaren Techno XT.

We got the Graco Mirage which was a bargain.

What's your budget?

Try the Armadillo Flip from Mamas and Papas. It can parent face (as well as face outwards), which is great when you have a newborn.

I've got a Bugaboo Bee which I love and can easily fit in my old Ka so something similar shape would be fine.

Quinny zap extra I think you can put a car seat on and the seat is movable

Hi I have a small car too and went to buy a really nice travel system from silver cross but it wouldn't fit in the boot. At mothercare they tried loads in my boot but non fitted.

I have just picked up a hauck system it's actually looking alright. It wasn't my first choice but my cars really new so I'm not changing it to get a swanky pram and lose lots of money.

It feels sturdy and it's the car seat carry cot and buggy you can just have the frame and the car seat to go shopping and swap things about. It's cost less then £250 in total. As I say I had my eye on a really quite expensive one but when all is said and done if I can't fit it in the car and it's a hassle there is no point .

Would you consider a preloved system? You could get a high end brand for a fraction of the price if you keep an eye out on gumtree etc. A bugaboo bee might fit your boot? Maybe head to mothercare or similar and try a few in your boot then keep an eye out for second hand ones coming up near you.

I went for The Britax Affinity really sturdy well made comes with pram/cot, stroller and car seat for around £400 to £500 depending on where you buy from and fits in a C2 Citroen boot it's a small long lengthways boot if that makes sense, I don't use the shelve in boot as dog normally goes in it.

Christelle2207 · 14/03/2015 16:34

Do go to a shop and do the boot test. We have a reasonably large car and our buggy goes in the boot but not much else does! Don't worry too much about getting something with a fancy carry cot attachment if space is tricky because they mostly outgrow them in 3-4 months.

I got the Graco Mirage travel system from Mothercare, it came with the base for the car seat, car seat, rain cover, changing bag and it's nice and lightweight. Plus the reviews said that it fits into a fiesta, so worth googling to see if its the same for the KA :)
