Just wondering, maybe the baby thread might be a better place for this post, but has anyone ordered anything from Mothercare for home delivery? How is it sent out? I don't want a huge Mothercare lorry coming out to our house, we live in a small community where everyone makes it their business to know everyone else's business! We're just thinking about getting a cot while it's on sale, but it's not available for store pick-up. Any help appreciated :)

I ordered bras and it was just a man in a small white van - I'm sure it was yodel who delivered. Not sure about bigger items though.

bradders85 · 14/03/2015 09:20

I had pram and furniture delivered and it was a Yodel van.

weeblueberry · 14/03/2015 09:23

I had furniture delivered (entire baby suite) and it was in a big arctic lorry thing but didn't say Mothercare on it Smile

Emz1989 · 14/03/2015 09:29

Yes they use yodel. I'm actually in the process of trying to locate a wardrobe they claim to have tried to deliver this week!!

madbunnygirl · 14/03/2015 09:34

We bought our nursery furniture set and when it eventually turned up was through a private courier at 9.50pm one Thursday evening. Hmmm. Good for stealt deliveries I guess if you have nosy neighbours!

dannydyerismydad · 14/03/2015 09:35

They use Yodel.

Good luck ordering anything online from Mothercare through. They have a nasty habit of cancelling orders and forgetting to tell you they've done so.

madbunnygirl · 14/03/2015 09:36

*stealth deliveries!!

shitebag · 14/03/2015 09:40

We ordered a cot from them that was never delivered yet it was signed for so they refused to refund until i threatened to call trading standards and even then it was done reluctantly and only at the reduced price it was being sold for by this point.

I've used precious little one, boots and babiesrus without issue.

I had no problems with mothercare. Ordered my pram into store for pick up but my cot was delivered by yodel, we were out so they re-delivered the next day.

scatterbrainedlass · 14/03/2015 09:44

Thanks for the quick reply, yes, we sometimes have problems with Yodel, it can takes weeks to get a delivery, other times it's delivered first time!! I guess it depends on the driver we get.

Yodel is rarely a problem for us. Mothercare are very skilled at taking an order and then not bothering to pass it onto a courier at all. Their stock control is hopeless.

D0nnaO · 14/03/2015 10:57

Ordered various things from them & they've always turned up earlier than advised, in a Yodel van Smile

weeblueberry · 14/03/2015 11:26

The thing you need to stress to them is that they need to confirm you won't be bringing the packages inside - they need to do that. When they guys came with mine they seemed surprised that I was 36 weeks pregnant and couldn't haul the flat pack cot into the bedroom. Hmm they were very grumbly about bringing it through the hallway and into the bedroom (which is all ground floor and on a main door flat btw)

chiliplant · 14/03/2015 11:33

If its yodel u won't have t worry.. They will pu TT cards through your door even though your in and u will have t drive twelve miles t depot t pick parcel up yourself!

scatterbrainedlass · 14/03/2015 12:51

Haha chilli, they don't even put cards through!! I had a time-sensitive delivery once, they apparently tried to deliver 3 times, I never saw them, never had a card through. In the end I had to drive to the depot, an hour away.

They use Yodel (since CityLink went bust). For that reason I will not order from them because Yodel are appalling in our area and it isn't worth the resulting hassle (Southampton depot)

Chchchchanging · 15/03/2015 08:38

They're shit
Ordered a set and buggy from them
Wardrobe took 3 deliveries before all parts were with us, our house was tiny and they wouldn't take all bits back till delivery was complete
The buggy was faulty and after much dusters finally refunded me by which point I had a tiny baby any had to sort it all out again
Health and safety issue with a gift from there was also handled appallingly
Avoid

We had an awful time trying to get our travel cot and mattress delivered.

We arranged delivery for my husband's day off, he stayed home all day and they never showed. On 'the system' they lied saying the property had gates (we live in apartments) but the gates have been broken for months!

After wasting time and money trying to contact them my husband ended up driving to their depot to collect in person.

Have stuff delivered to store if possible.
