Naproxen/Amytriptyline while pregnant

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had taken either of the above while pregnant? I have had bad TMJ for 6 months or so and so far the only time it has felt better has been while on a combination of naproxen and amytriptyline. I am now 6 weeks pregnant and have not taken them at all while pregnant but I'm really struggling now, pain with it but also swelling which affects my ear and makes me feel dizzy at times and also throat swells :-( and since stopping the meds this has got worse again. Paracetamol is no help at all, presumably because it's not anti inflammatory. Saw my Gp but they were no help.

NSAIDs aren't recommended in pregnancy but afaik the riskiest time to take then is the first trimester. Co-dydramol is often prescribed for PGP so that might be another option.

Could you get a rheumatology referral? I wouldn't take anything without specialist medical advice.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try and get an appointment to see the oral and maxillo facual consultant as soon as I can and see what they say. Hoping there may be some alternative as the dizziness makes me then get anxious which just makes it worse. It's going to be a long 8 months lol

My best friend took amitryptilline throughout her pregnancy for IBS. No problems but do discuss with a HCP

Just re-read my post - risk of NSAIDs is greatest in THIRD trimester, sorry.

Hope you get some relief soon, OP.
