Is this a kick...?!?

I was on the bus on my way home and I felt two successive little twitches in my lower abdomen. I wondered if it was a couple of little kicks but I've read that kicks feel like bubbles bursting, whereas this felt more like little twitches or spasms or prods.

...And another one!!!

Do these sound like kicks or maybe something else? I'm 16 weeks today so don't know if its a bit early and maybe this is just stretchy muscles or something.

its possible. though my money is on wind! I think early on you are more likely to feel movements if lying down on a hard surface and in a quiet room. Unlikely on a moving bus with engine vibrations.

I started feeling it from 16 weeks too. No flutters, definite 'pokes' felt like tapping/pitter patters from the inside.
From 18 weeks I could feel kicks from the outside.

I felt my boys first kicks whilst sat on the bus. Tiny little pokes. Also I was 16 weeks. It was definitely kicks as he's been unbelievably active ever since that day. The only difference now is the little pokes are massive jabs. Grin

I started getting those twinges around 20wks, but since hitting 23 wks I'm getting the bubbles bursting feelings now, each day getting more prominent and frequent too :)

So exciting!

It could be wind but I want it to be kicks so my judgement's a bit skewed haha Smile it sounds like it could be from some of your experiences too. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if it keeps happening Grin

I had exactly what you describe at 16 weeks and not before or later, once kicks feel like kicks (which you would get if it were something gastric) so i think it is baby. Even if its just baby stretching and making a ligament move, it's still tge sensation of your belly bean doing its exercises.

It didnt feel like wind to me. I only got that sensation during this stage of pregnancy.

It started to feel more pronounced at 18 weeks and dp felt them at 20. I think a placenta at the back means baby trampolines off your front more clearly so you can feel it.

I'm 26 weeks and it still feels like muscle twitches/spasms at times (although he does hoof me at other times). I started feeling them properly around 18 weeks. So yes, I reckon that's a kick :)

Bogal · 13/03/2015 11:38

Yay! So funny to think of little bean bouncing around in there already Smile

I had exactly the same, started at about 15.5 weeks. The 'bubbles' didn't make that much sense to me, but a friend told me it was like when you are tired and your eye twitches which was exactly how it felt. Now 21 weeks and getting full on kicks but still some random (rhythmical) twitches which apparently could be hiccups.

Bogal · 13/03/2015 12:41

Yes that's it - it's like an eye twitch but in my belly! Must be nice feeling those proper kicks and hiccups now you're further along Smile

The first thing I felt was a fluttering - like a butterfly beating its wings down in my abdomen. The eye-twitching comparison sounds familiar too though. I'm 34 weeks now and occasionally the movements are so vigorous they hurt a bit - you'll be able to tell for sure soon enough!
