Hmm Had booking in appt today at 8.5 weeks, and mentioned the suspected food poisoning I think I had at the weekend (rather than bug) I asked if any risk expecting a flippant don't be silly like reply only to get a pause face followed by well let's hope you're lucky and it was a bug... What's the bigger risk outcome- causes miscarriage or abnormalities, and is there any recognised risk data? Very Hmm

Maybe have a look at Emily Oster's book "Expecting Better" I think there's a chapter on good poisoning.

It spends on the bacteria causing the poisoning I think. Some just make mum to be ill, some can cross the placenta and affect baby (eg listeria I think). Maybe go to you gp if you are worried and see if they can take a stool sample and work out what it was? (I had a campylobacter infection diagnosed from a sample taken about 2 weeks after infection).

Thank you
Tbh I'm usually quite pragmatic about such things but on reflection realised it's a bit different when pregnant!!
Will call GP tomorrow
