Pregnancy test positive but nothing at scan!

I recently received ivf treatment. I had a 3 day FET and was implanted on the 31st January. I was told to wait 2 weeks to do a test. When I did the test it was a positive!! But when we attended our scan we were 6 weeks 6 days so they said. The scan showed an empty uterus. No sac no fetal pole no fetus. We were devastated as all my tests have shown up positive. After the scan we were told to stop the meds and go home and expect to bleed. The following day I started getting stringy brown discharge and had some bad cramps and bleeding. We visited the gynaecology dept and they took bloods which showed a level of what was said to be 75. They said to come back two days later and see if the levels were rising. But I received a call from the Dr who scanned Me ( not gentle or sympathetic at all ) saying not to come back in as the level was what it was and that I had miscarried.
There was no proof of miscarriage. They also mentioned a possible blighted ovum or chemical pregnancy but this was to be confirmed with a second blood test which I was told wasn't needed but instead to do a pregnancy test in a week...I've done another two tests since which state pregnant. I have stopped bleeding and cramping. My period was due in the day I started bleeding after the scan. I had no symptoms of coming on whatsoever prior to the scan(intravaginal). I'm so confused as to what's happening. I'm still holding on to hope and I'm praying it's just too early to be seen. Has anyone got any advice or help me with this?
Worried and confused :(

At 6 weeks you should have a hcg level of 1000 - 56000 and something should be visible on scan. Pregnancy tests are very sensitive and some will read as low as 10hcg so can continue to say positive whilst your levels return to normal.

With an egg transfer your dates are known so I don't think it is possible to be out

With an early loss it is possible that anything was re absorbed and then you shed your lining. I have had very early losses and it was like s period.

I am so sorry they seem to be being so harsh and blunt with you, it is terribly unfair.

Sadly the very low hcg figures are the evidence of a miscarriage. Wait 10 days and do another test and it should be negative.

I am so sorry you are going through this.

when did you do the last test? It's true that pregnancy hormones stay in your body for a while, and test will show up positive even after you have miscarried. But (not an expert) I doubt that would happen a several weeks after a chemical pregnancy. So if the tests are still positive now, I would go back to get checked out.

I did a test last night an again this morning and it said positive. There's been no bleeding now for 24 hours. The bleeding and discomfort only started after my internal scan. They've asked me to go back in for another blood test to confirm the status of the pregnancy but although I'm still hopeful ( U have to be ) I think if the levels are dropped then it will prove either a non viable pregnancy or a missed miscarriage as they call it....

Amble, the progesterone etc that you were on will delay your period by up to a week or so after you've stopped the meds (if indeed you do get a period, though it is likely that you will). The lack of anything on the scan, combined with the low hcg is confirmation that this cycle hasn't worked. A recheck of your hcg levels will most likely show they have dropped; if they haven't, then there is a possibility that the scan was wrong somehow, or possibly you have an ectopic pregnancy (though there would likely be other symptoms, like a much higher hcg level).

I'm afraid POASing is just wasting your money; you need to know the levels just now and unfortunately you need to wait for your body to rebalance itsefl. I do realise how difficult this is; i've been there myself, and I have every sympathy for you.

Get your blood test done again to confirm hcg levels, and see what happens from there. xx

Thank you for your help. I was still taking the meds and there was nothing wrong until the day after the scan. I'm really hoping its not ectopic and it's just maybe a blighted ovum or failure to progress at an early stage so we can try again with out the stress next time x perhaps if the clinic offered a blood yet to me but I had to go out on a limb myself to fight to get one ad to get a follow up today
