10 weeks but look like 6 months! is this normal...?!

In the morning I look pretty much like I'm 10 weeks. But by lunchtime my stomach has bloated massively and I look more like 6 months pregnant! It stays like this for the rest of the day.

I am a bit constipated and feel a bit bloated, but this seems ridiculous! Am struggling to find anything to wear that hides the 'bump' as I won't be telling work etc for another few weeks.

In my first pregnancy I didn't show for ages (5 years ago), although my jeans button didn't up from about 9 weeks or so.

Is this anything I should be worried about or could I really just be ridiculously bloated?!

thanks for any advice!

I'm watching with interest because I am 8 weeks and I am ridiculously bloated looking constantly. I didn't have any bump at all until around 20 weeks with my first two but I am a decade older now and don't know if age + 2 previous pregnancies is making the difference.
I don't look quite obviously pregnant yet in my clothes but my stomach is becoming more rounded by the day and I couldn't wear anything close fighting and Lycra like without people noticing my round tummy.
I keep wondering if I have my dates wrong, a multiple birth or if it is just that I am going to grow more quickly this time around. It definitely isn't just weight gain because I haven't been able to eat as much as normal and have lost a few pounds.

I'm the same, second pregnancy and 10 weeks. Look about five months pregnant. A shop assistant asked me today when the baby was due and was shocked when I said September.

Namelesswonder · 07/03/2015 18:17

Normal for second pregnancy I think - I was in maternity trousers from 10 weeks!

Lilacflower · 07/03/2015 18:24

I'm exactly the same. 11 weeks into my second pregnancy and in maternity trousers already Shock my first pregnancy I didn't need them until 16 weeks. I'm finding it hard to hide as well. Think it's normal.

thanks for the reassurance, glad am not the only one! Better dig out my very old and tatty maternity clothes! Or perhaps an excuse for a bit of shopping....! Wink

IME (3rd baby) it is totally normal to get bloated at that stage, I find it settles down a lot for me, and then I just go through a podgy middle stage before getting a proper bunp around 16/18 weeks :D

Same here. Went out for a meal with friends (we've not announced anything yet!) I sat down and the guy I was sat next to suddenly pointed at my -admittedly rotund-- belly and shouted "oh wow, number 2 I didn't know, congratulations!" Prompting everyone on the table to stare at me and my DP and I awkwardly stammered that yep, about 9 weeks! Blush

I was big with my first though, I looked about 6/7 months by 3 months. It did even out though and I didn't get monstrously huge until 8 months!

I think bloating has a lot to answer for!

I was going to ask if this is your second baby, OP, as IME the bump is much bigger second time round. I wasn't small with my first, but I had people hopping up to offer me a seat on the tube this time before I even peed on a stick! I think I embarrassed a few people by saying "no thanks, I'm fine" before I knew. Now, of course, I gratefully accept every time!

The bloating was so bad until 9 weeks, I had to get into maternity clothes at 6 weeks, then I had a week off and it all started again. There was no way I could hide it.

I'm now six months in but keep getting "that baby looks like it's ready to come out!" comments.

pinkie1982 · 07/03/2015 20:10

I was the same until 12w and then the bloating went and I had a definite bump from there on!

weeblueberry · 07/03/2015 20:12

I was the same with my second but I think I was a lot more consious of it than anyone else was!!

thanks all - and yes VeryHungry, this is second baby but first was a while ago (5 years) so kind of thought it was like starting over!

No one has commented to me yet but I've had a few pointed looks at work so I reckon one or two have worked it out!

ah well, will just have to embrace it!
