discharge - do I need to see someone?

Hi

This morning when I wiped I had a very small amount of brown mucus discharge - rather like I'd just picked a bogey! There was no other blood or anything. I spoke to a community midwife and they just said to monitor it and go to labour ward if it gets worse.

However, googling this (must stop that) I've been freaked out by all the women saying they had this and ignored it and it turned out it was their mucus plug then they lost the baby!

I have got pains too but had just assumed they were ligament type pains which are normal for 19 weeks

Any advice?

I had this at 14 weeks, exactly as you described. I rang my midwife and she said just to monitor it. She said brown blood like that is ok as its old blood.

She said they don't routeenly scan all women that get this as they would be scanning women all day every day.

I'd say still monotor yourself like you are and see what happens.

I know it's hard as we do all worry about everything, Step away from google

Thanks Lipgloss - nothing else has happened so will just keep an eye on it. Random things happen I suppose! X

Your mucus plug regenerates so try not to worry ... Dr Google has much to answer for!

I have had this throughout my pregnancy, ended up spending a night in triage as I had a small bit of watery bloody leakage but it wasn't amniotic fluid. I have been told that I have a sensitive cervix and even going over a pothole in the car can cause me to bleed! Joy! Brown blood tends to be old so it's usually nothing but always keep your midwife informed :)

Thanks all - have had nothing since first tiny blob so fingers crossed! X
