Skin splitting around clitoris

HELP!!!

Problem is just as it sounds. The skin just above my clitoris has become so delicate that it splits when touched

I'm 28 weeks. I had thrush and treated it with canesten. Thats all cleared up now but just this morning when I was looking in the mirror I felt a stinging and noticed the skin had split in a small vertical line. Not really deep but that shouldn't happen anyway.

When I had thrush I noticed the skin did split there a little but guessed that was down to the skin becoming hyper sensitive and delicate due to the thrush but I've been clear of it for two weeks now.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? What does this sound like to you? I'm going to try and see my midwife this afternoon but any help would be appreciated.

Obviously I'm terrified this will be worse when I deliver. I've heard the horror stories of women tearing at the front up through their clitoris and I'm shitting myself this will be me!

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Have to run out now but just wanted to say that this could possibly be genital psoriasis, I had never had any skin conditions in 30 years but following pregnancy, breast feeding I and an immensely stressful year my body was really run down and this started along with eczema! Finally was so sore I went to GP and got some steroid cream, much better now but can get flare ups.

I had this when pregnant. I used canesteen daily for the last few weeks and also tried to soak in a warm bath no soap every day. During delivery I had a small tear at the clitoris where the skin would break or laceration as the called it right when the skin would break during pregnancy and needed a few stitches. Not sure if I would have tore here is the skin had not been so delicate before but then again I might have. Midwife said it was a rare area to tear and very good to only tear there for first labour. It healed pretty fast without pain I had scar tissue there for a while it went done fully at about 3 months post birth and not even noticeable now

I wonder if you have lichen sclerosis rather than thrush? it is often mis-diagnosed. Have a google.

whos yes I've never had any skin condition either but this pregnancy has been really stressful.

Be sure to wash the area with plain water and wear only cotton knickers as anything else can irritate it further

Lichen sclerosis was my first thought too Fifty.

I have had this off and on, in my case it is vulval eczema. Started after a bout of thrush like you. I have a mild steroid cream for it but it's not for use in pregnancy.

Lichen sclerosis is similar but has scar tissue build up whereas I don't have that thankfully.

best advice is to use nothing but water on the area. you may find it clears up once your hormones settle down.

oh and it didn't cause any issues at birth.

I had/have this. It developed early but got worse and worse until the skin was like tissue paper. The GP said it was hormonal eczema and prescribed steroid cream. It has totally cleared up as long as I use the cream occasionally. It goes after birth.
