I thought I had read somewhere that you cannot be asked if you intend to return to work? Am I mis-remembering something?

Can you be asked how long you intend to take for maternity, if you intend to return etc?

Having to put pen to paper for a grievance and it's turning out to be really difficult! There's a lot of stuff but it's hard to pin point the most important things

I work for a large public sector organisation - I had to fill in a maternity plan which included information such as when I was going to start maternity leave and when and if I intend to return. I am allowed to change my mind though but they request a months notice of any changes.
I think that is pretty standard really.

It might be different if you don't get occupational maternity pay and only the statutory, but like the pp I had to give an indication of whether I planned to return to work and when but can change this with two months notice. Tbh it seemed reasonable as they're getting a fixed term post to cover me so need to know how long that would need to be for. I don't think they can hold you to it though if you don't return-I will just have to pay back the occupational maternity pay unless I work for three months (which can be done using up accrued leave).

i work for a large company and I was asked when i planned to go off, how long was i planning to take off, was i going to return etc.

like hazelnut i was allowed to change my mind but they wanted a months notice.

i thought all the questions were normal and reasonable.
