Hello,

I am on the home stretch now, but I am really suffering with palpitations and hot flushes. It seems to come on really quickly and I am really breathless, with a racing heart and have sweat pouring from my face. Is this another sympton of Braxton Hicks as I have been having these quick regulalry, or should I be worried?

Many thanks.

SH

Don't know about Braxton Hicks being responsible for palpitations/hot flushes - unless you are getting really panicky about them. If I were you I would put in a quick call to midwife or GP to reassure you.

Pregnancy hormones can make your body feel all sorts of wierd and wonderful things and the increase in blood supply can make you feel much warmer than those around you who aren't pregnant.

Get some reassurance - you're so nearly there you don't want your last weeks ruined by worrying about something! Good luck.

Levels of cortisol increase with pregnancy which can give similar symptoms. But check with your midwife if you're worried

Many thanks for your advice Muppetisacat, I think I will give my GP a quick buzz and see what he thinks.

Thanks bluejelly, I will look up cortisol and see what it says. It may just be because I am running out of space fast and everything is getting squashed!!
