Help! I'm 22 weeks pregnant and really suffering with acid reflux, I've tried just grinning and bearing it but I can't anymore!

What's the best thing to treat it?

over the counter liquid gaviscon. its vile but you get used to it. I like to swig it out of the bottle!

Gaviscon by the bucketful. You should be able to get it prescribed and free with your maternity exemption if you see a doctor. I also found sparkling mineral water really haloed, particularly Badoit. Hope you're feeling better soon.

*helped

I find the chewable tablet Gaviscon great, and easier to cart around than the bottle.

Forget about Gaviscon. See your GP and get some Ranitidine. So much better. Gaviscon barely took the edge off for me.

I like the orange flavoured rennies, like sweets and much nicer

Cisforcat · 03/03/2015 22:04

Love heart sweets ( honestly) but go to your GP. Gaviscon made me chuck so am on omperozole and take 1 a day. It's magical stuff. Wouldn't have coped without it. ( am 36 weeks now and got it early on like you)

It's damn awful. However mine has been improved no end by eliminating wheat so it could be worth finding out if there is anything triggering it for you?

yummymango · 04/03/2015 10:40

I took ranitidine throughout my first pregnancy as gaviscon didn't cut it. You can buy Zantac from the chemist, it's low dose over the counter at 75mg but you can take 2 at a time - I was prescribed 150mg tablets from the doctor.
