7+2 and brown spotting overnight

Hi,

I really need some advice. I am 7+2 and last night I started brown spotting.

I checked again this morning and I'm still spotting. I have some cramping too but nothing too severe.

I am currently on the second day of my week long holiday in Fuerteventura.

The NHS website says to contact your GP or midwife but they can't do much whilst I am here. I am due to have my first midwife appt 1 week today.

I have found a clinic in Caleta del Fuste which has a GP who has obs and gynae experience (I found the clinic before I left for this very reason). Should I contact the clinic or sit tight until it gets worse then just see the midwife as planned on Tuesday.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Go to the clinic today and get checked out. You'll only worry otherwise.

To be honest there is very little they can tell you or do. Bleeding in pregnancy whilst not normal is not unusual either and often occurs around the time of a missed period. Try not to worry about it overly and enjoy your holiday.

Implantation happens around about 8 weeks and can cause light brown sporting and cramping. It is perfectly normal and I had it with all my PGS.

It's probably worth speaking to your doctor just for your peace of mind.

Spotting obvs! Not sporting!

Thanks ladies.

I haven't really slept because I am so worried.

I don't know if it's helped or not by my husband saying well even if you have miscarried they can't do anything about it anyway - Grr!!!

I will phone my GP this morning and see what they say. Possibly I can arrange an early scan for when I get back.

Also trying my best not to panic as I can cope with the cramping. It's not too bad at all this morning.

Thanks again ladies. I really appreciate your quick replies because I really have been very worried all night.

I phoned my GP practice who were brilliant! Put straight through to a GP at 8am who was reassuring. He said to continue to monitor the spotting and if it deteriorates or the cramping worsens to attend a clinic here but otherwise they would see me when I get back (5 days). I then have my midwife appt on Tuesday.

If you are bleeding and it's bright red that's something to be checked out immediately. Brown spotting can be very normal at this stage.

I'm happy you feel better, enjoy your holiday and the rest of your pg. Smile

goodbetter

No implantation does not occur at 8 weeks. Implantation will typically occur around 11 days after conception. Implantation needs to happen before a pregnancy can even be confirmed as no HCG will be produced until then.

Sorry this is my biggest pet hate. No information is better than wrong information on circumstances like this.

OP: just take it easy from now on and try to enjoy your holiday. Since you have to rest and relax, a nice sunny country seems the perfect place to do it! Best wishes x

OP I had this. I believe if it's brown it's old blood shedding which can happen as your uterus starts expanding. Try not to worry too much. And I second sarkymare, it's NOT implantation bleeding.

MistressMerryWeather · 03/03/2015 12:14

I had the same thing with DS2 at 7 weeks. Spotting then brown stringy discharge.

When I rang the midwife she said it was normal at this stage and to just keep an eye on it.

However if you are really worried you should go get checked out, no harm in getting some piece of mind.

Brown spotting can be normal in early pregnancy.

Sorry to be intrusive but have you had sex? That is what caused my brown spotting when pregnant with dd. I think it just dislodged some old blood

Best of luck

That's me told!

crazycatlady82 · 03/03/2015 14:28

I must admit the sun is very therapeutic! We are in a very quiet seaside village (El Cotillo) which is nice.

I had sex approx 24hrs before the spotting started. The cramping is easing off and fingers crossed the spotting seems to be stopping.

It's reassuring to hear others have had this and then gone on to have successful pregnancies.

I had implantation bleeding about the time my period was due. It was literally a few spots then nothing. I am quite regular with my periods so it was a sign I could be pregnant.

Maybe I am just a person that spots easily?!?! Eek!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all replies to my post.
