I just found this site and it is a lovely comfort to know you are not going mad or on your own!

So I thought I'd ask for some advice (first pregnancy, very early on, not much internet experience either!)

I'm 29 and have been trying for baby since July. I had very very slight bleeding at normal period time since Saturday (21st). But I thought something felt different so did a Clearblue (one with 3 tests and result stays for about an hour) digital test yesterday morning.

It had a pregnant result (I had to take a photo on my mobile to remind myself I didn't imagine it) and I was totally over the moon.

But was still bleeding (dark brown/purpley, no pain at all). Phoned GP (no appointments) who just told me to rest. Howvere, I then did another test (Clearble digital but the newer one where the result stays 24hrs and only one use) yesterday evening which said negative. Worried worried worried.

Today bleeding is MUCH less which is good but am scared to do another test now! Any advice or stories would be appreciated. Allib

dark brown blood is old blood - ie it has taken a while to get out. Bright red blood is fresh and indicates current bleeding.

So (cautiously) I would say believe the positive one - I don't think you can get false positives, you can get false negatives, and I am pretty sure the pregnancy hormones would not reduce so quickly if you had had an early miscarriage.

I guess all you can do is say wait a week and then test again.

Thank you all for your advice. Am trying to resist the temptation of going to get more tests now! I think I shall try to chill out and relax a bit before doing any more tests. despite wanting to do one every morning!!

Thanks for the positive encouragement, however it looks like I'm not going to be a Mum just yet. A trip to the GP and then hospital has confirmed that. Thanks for your advice. It was really appreciated. Good luck to you all.
