Just after a bit of advice please if anyone can help me?
I went to the EPU yest after suffering bleeding and heavy cramps for the last 3 days. We only found out on Monday that I was pregnant and the digi test showed 2-3 weeks. At the EPU they took my bloods and I was to go back tomorrow (48 hrs later) to them repeated.
The nurse has called this afternoon and told me my HCH levels are 5,556 and they want to see me tomorrow for a scan and that they won't be repeating the blood tests.
Does anyone know what this means? Why won't they repeat the bloods and why do they want to scan at such an early stage?
I'm my mind I've kind of accepted that I've mc and that I think the scan is to confirm that there's nothing left to come away.
Any advice would be greatly received, thanks.

It depends how far along they think you are. It could be that they are suspecting ectopic pregnancy, high hcg levels can point to that. But that would be a high hcg for 4 weeks and not very high for more than 5 weeks, and they won't have been able to date you yet?

Are you sure she said they wouldn't repeat the blood test? She didn't say come in for a scan and we'll repeat the test here? It would be very odd to use the results of just on bHcg.
When was the date of your last period, do you know?

Thanks for the reply.
Initially yest they said to just turn up before 1pm on Sunday for repeat bloods but when the nurse called today she said 'we'd like you to come in at 10.30 for a scan' when I said I was due in for repeat bloods she definitely said we won't be doing them, just a scan.
My lmp was 19/1 but I KNOW my date of conception was 1/2 which puts me at just under 4 weeks.
I've miscarried before that's why I couldnt understand why she said they won't repeat the bloods.

I think generally a HCG over 4000 means you should be able to see something definite on scan so maybe that's why they're going directly to scan?

Well those dates make you almost 6 weeks, not 4 (you count from last lmp, which totally fits your conception date)

Protocol would be to repeat the blood tests anyway, but yes they are probably thinking that at that level of hcg something should be seen on scan.
