Episiotomy stitches gaping

I know this is the pregnancy board but there's more traffic here and hoping someone will have some positive experiences. I recently has an episiotomy, and after increased pain, my midwife told me that about 1cm of the stitches have opened. She said it would heal on its own but it's so so painful. I am terrified to go to the toilet because of the pain - it's really getting me down. Even getting into position to feed my little boy can bring me to tears. Any tips? Please tell me it will get better.... :( x

Update- so I did go and see the GP who did a swab; there is no infection but in her words 'it has a way to go' in terms of healing. I'm still quite upset about it to be honest- quite concerned about future marital relations etc. fingers crossed... Xx

Pinkrach I am back to report how my babys birth went (i had a name change-i was faithope)

So I had another natural birth, 1hr 55 minute birth, no intervention, head was managed during birthing and I did tear (2nd degree) and had to be stitched inside and out. Recovery has been much faster, baby is 2 weeks old and i feel no pain or discomfort. I have been brave and had a look and the doctor did a good job :)

hope all is well with you x
