BH without visible uterine contracting?

For the last few days I've had pretty strong aches (like period cramps) that come and go. They can be quite intense and last for a minute or two.

Am I right in thinking they're braxton hicks? Most of what I've read has suggested you can normally feel your uterus tightening when you have one and I can't say I've noticed this.

This is second baby but I literally went right up to due date with my daughter without any sort of aches and pains cow that I was.

I'm not an expert, but when I had Braxton Hicks they were painless tightenings, odd things but certainly not intensely painful. What you're describing sounds more like the real thing to me, but there may well be another explanation.

With my first, I had 2-3 weeks of feeling like I had period cramps a few times a day before I went into labour - I figured they were BH. You may find that when you go into labour your contractions feel like really really strong period cramps too - I was expecting to feel my bump tightening when I went into labour but for me it was all in my abdomen.

Thanks both. I don't think it is the real thing because it's been going on for a good few days now with not much to show for it. And it happens mainly in the evening? Not sure if it's to do with pressure on my back from the day etc. I'm seeing the midwife on Tuesday so will check with her then. :)

I had contractions that weren't showing 'visible' ... turns out it was irritable uterus with onset of a uti ... course of antibiotics stopped it flaring right up but has happened in 2 pregnancies after 30 weeks for me, this and my 4th ... Both girls lol!!!

Oh jings really? Will definitely have to ask the midwife on Tuesday then!!

I had gone to be monitored with reduced movement and tightenings ... They sent off a urine sample which confirmed ... I hope yours is just a case of preparing little one for their grand arrival :)
