This morning I got offered my 1st "because I'm pregnant seat"

I wanted to say a big thank you to the lady that offered me her seat this morning on central line.
I was very unwell and was on my 2nd attempt to get to work this morning (had to get off the 1st train because I felt really sick). This lovely lady looked at my bump (17w4d) and just offered me her seat even though she wasn't seating in one of the designated seats. I politely refused at first even though I was feeling like I could collapse any minute but she insisted. It made a world of difference!
There are some lovely people out there. Unfortunately I don't have a Twitter account so can't give a shout out, but hope the universe will reward her somehow

Why would you even attempt to refuse? It is just fair that you get a seat!bdo you have a baby on board badge?

No, I didn't think people could tell yet. Clearly I was delusional as someone I told at work yesterday that I was pregnant said "I kind of known for a couple of weeks now, was wondering when you'll come out" lol
How do I get one nolim?

Just go to a tube station snd request one!
It was a live saver for me even in the first trimester.

I decided early on, if somebody offered me a seat I would accept-even if I didn't feel like I really needed it at that exact moment. I found you could never predict what would happen further down the line and the train might get overcrowded or further along in the pregnancy I might be desperate for somebody to offer and they didn't because I'd previously said no(pregnancy fuzzy logic or what???) I'm now big enough that I am regularly offered or I feel less self conscious asking and even had a lady shout out "will somebody give this lady a seat" yesterday which was a tad embarrassing but it was a rammed train and it did save me asking. And defo get a badge. You'll get some stick on here most likely but I have had a lot of non-pregnant people comment they were glad to see me wearing it and as my dad once said "it allows men the opportunity to be courteous" so wear it with pride.

Karma is a good thing so that lady will have had a good day. Even if she didn't notice your bump she obviously realised you weren't feeling well and that's a good enough reason to offer your seat to somebody else in my book.

I had a lady in Haskins approach me and take my lunch tray to my table for me after she saw me waddling away from the till ... its a first for me too ... definitely something in the water today :)

I've never been offered a seat, ever, and this is my third pregnancy. Do you think I should ask my Londoner sil to get me a badge even though I like in a different city?

I am far too self conscious to ask someone to give up their seat; and I've never seen anyone ask for a seat.

I think it is pretty standard for pregnant women to get a seat in the tube or train in london. Some times they ask but most times someone sees the badge or bumps and offers the seat.

Sorry Nolim-it isn't pretty standard for pregnant women to get a seat in London even with the badge. I commute in from an outer London borough on the mainline train and rarely get offered a seat. It's only now I'm more visibly pregnant and have SPD that I feel confident enough to turf somebody out of their seat forcing them to stand for the next twenty minutes at least. Even when you see the same people on the platform and in the carriage every day-I try to switch carriages too avoid asking the same people to get up or wait for a different train altogether.
May just be my experience and the folk from Kent don't like offering up their seat!

My baby on board badge has been fab! Not showing yet but get horrible motion induced sickness especially on the tube - so it's SUCH a relief to sit down. You just ask at any ticket office - Guy if you can get one I would - it just saves people awkwardly trying to figure out if you're just porky (like I look right now!)

Wearing a badge I get offered a seat more often than not on the tube. I also always accept even if I feel fine in case of delays/suddenly feeling crap further down the line.

I was never ever offered a seat when pregnant last time - and I was commuting up to 37 weeks so was very obviously heavily pregnant.

I feel a bit funny about baby on board badges though so didn't have one last time. I might get over myself and get one this time.

I have offered my seat LOTS of times to pregnant women/the elderly, people with small children and get so cross that other people ignore them.

I got one this evening - I really thought I will be asked to prove I am actually pregnant but the guy just handed it to me . I didn't pin it on yet, will start on Monday. I'm no longer as tired as I was in the first 15 weeks, but it is the motion sickness MrsD14 mentions that makes it tough for me.

I was very surprised, I had no idea that people are still considerate... Most of the time I get a lot of elbows and stepping on my feet, so it really was nice. Got me quite teary today while thinking about it - free for all hormones clearly

Hi, you can also get the bags online, go to tfl website and they post one out, with 10% discount voucher for not on high st.

I live in London and I always offer my seat to someone wearing a baby on board badge, without fail! I'm always so surprised when I hear pregnant ladies say they're never offered a seat.

But I'm not sure I'd offer it to someone who was only 17w without a badge, I'd be too worried maybe they weren't actually pregnant and I would offend them.

We just don't have badges in this city. Maybe I'll write to the transport company and ask them to start a scheme.

Yeah I can't stand the badges personally - I hate broadcasting it - so i know I can't complain that I don't get that many offers. Will be better in the summer when I'm not wearing a big coat (but generally you only get an offer when standing by seats,nobody will save you if you are crammed in the entrance bit of the train!)

Good to know times have changed. I remember years ago being on a tube at 41 weeks pregnant, and did NOT get offered a seat!
