Do I work out how many weeks I am based on EDD?

I'm usually a very organised person who doesn't forget this sort of stuff, but the month I got pregnant I am genuinely not sure when the first day of my period was.

I'd had a miscarriage a couple of months before and things weren't totally regular. Then my friends had a baby on Halloween who was very ill, and I spent pretty much every second in the infant ICU with them for about two weeks and stuff like that just got forgotten.

When I did my booking in appointment I basically guessed about when it was, but two scans at 12 weeks indicate that I was about 10 days out. But now I'm not sure which date to use.

Should I be sticking by counting from the first day of my last period (which I guessed at) or work it out based on the EDD I've been given?

Go by scan date. LMP is just a rough guide to plan early scans and booking. The scans will more accurately date the pregnancy. Two women with the same lmp might be due at v different times. Say one ovulates on day 10 of her cycle and one on day 25, that's two weeks'difference. But same lmp date.

Go with the scan date.

All the medical professionals will use your scan EDD and that's what will dictate whether your are overdue/early when you get to full term.

In my experience the midwife will go by the EDD from your scan. This pregnancy my EDD is exactly the same as based on lmp but I think that's quite unusual based on the reaction of the sonographer .

Hope this pregnancy goes smoothly for you Flowers
