Did anyone else get their much-longed-for BFP and freak out a bit?

Just got my proper BFP this morning on a digital testSmile. OH and I have been TTC for around 6 cycles, and I'm over the moon! But also I'm now freaking out. A baby?! Can we cope with baby stage again? (Already have an 11 year old - who'll be delighted!) Will our parents be pleased?! Eek!

Congratulations! Yes definitely. It's my first so I was totally over the moon but also a bit "Omg, am I really responsible enough to look after a BABY?!"

Dolallytats · 26/02/2015 08:13

I got a BFP after TTC for 15 years!! I think I went into shock for a bit. DS is now nearly 7.....and we had another surprise BFP when he was 5. DD is now 19 months. We really are very lucky Smile

Congratulations!! (and yes, your parents will be thrilled!!)

I think if you don't freak out you aren't thinking about it properly! Honestly it's incredible but it's a life-changer so of course it's normal to be knocked a bit sideways when it becomes a reality. Congratulations though and enjoy every minute of it Flowers (except for the morning sickness, piles and exhaustion - you'd be silly to enjoy those haha)

Erm yes!! Trying for two years. Sobbed for two weeks and seriously considered not going through with it.
My two year old dd is tantruming as we speak as she has chicken pox and I can't stand watching peppa pig another twenty times. Xx

I cried for days and I was scared to tell my mum as if I was a school girl! I'm married ffsGrin Congratulations!

Oh god yes. All I want is a family but every day I freak out a bit I say to my OH "OMG can we do this?!" I gather it's normal. You've got quite a while to get used to the idea. I think there's an adjustment to the reality of being pregnant right when you first find out.

I wonder about the people who get a BFP and don't freak out. Are they just that zen, or are they in denial about how big a change it will be? I vote for denial.

So glad to have found this tread. I am pregnant with my third and its want my husband and I both wanted but I am having such negative thoughts about this baby. I swing from joy to total fear! I am nearly 8 weeks pregnant so dont feel great and my two children are more full on then ever. Why do I feel like this? Never felt this with one and two (I dont think).
Today I even said to my husband...I think we have made a mistake :(

Another freak out here! Found out about a month ago that I'm expecting #2 and massively stressing over it. Yes, it was planned, but I keep thinking of all the difficult things that are ahead - likely to be a slightly tricky pregnancy, and I really didn't enjoy the tiny baby days last time. I'm only 8 weeks though, so the morning sickness doesn't help. I'm also petrified of something going wrong, so basically making myself stressed and miserable about everything!

I'm sure that as scans come and go it makes it easier to relax into it a bit.

Thank you all so much! Glad I'm not allowed!

quesilladas I'm the same - really worry about something going wrong too. Excited too though!

Total freaker-outer here! I found out 6 days ago and had to sit in the garden to get some air as everything was spinning. I don't think anything really prepares you for it. I'm still freaking out - OMG there is something growing in me, it has a heartbeat, I'm going to be massive (I'm under 5 foot), what about work, what about money, am I ready, can I cope, what if I end up like mother, what if I'm not good enough, what if I miscarry...you get the idea! It's been an exhausting 6 days! Welcome to the club :-)

Feeling a bit blah today. Horrible taste in my mouth, worried about money etc. Still very happy - just reality kicking in!

Tried to phone the GP for an appointment - first available is the 18th of March Shock so need to get DH to phone during the week when he's off to get a semi-urgent one. Hmph!
