period then positive hpt

anyone had a period/bleed then a positive pregnancy test? how far were u when u got your positive? what made u test after the period?

My friend did.. She had a regular bleed & only considered the possibility of pregnancy after a discussion we had - she'd had PMS symptoms since her period whic is similar to early pregnancy..She was about 6 weeks along by the time she tested.

I just had mine but really not feeling fab so think I am going to test maybe the end of this week/weekend. I want to wait a little bit as I don't want to test to soon as tests can be expensive plus if I get a negative I won't re-test. I really don't know when the best time to test would be as I'm on the combined pill so it was a forced period and not my real cycle! So confussed!!

This happened to me. Annoyingly, because I had just had my period I went out for a work party and got really drunk! (I had been avoiding booze at times I could be pregnant). Three days later I decided that feeling sick couldn't still be a hangover and took a test on a whim... and saw a BFP!

I had full periods for 4 months with my first ... It was the bump that developed that roused suspicion lol!! A scan to date showed I was already halfway!!

Did they say what caused the periods blackwidow74? Were they any lighter?

Possibly a little lighter/shorter but not noticeably ... and they just said it happens sometimes ... I'm currently 32 weeks with #6 and never had it happen with the others! Apparently some womens bodies just act strange lol :)

I'm lying next to a 16 month old that was a bit of a surprise like that had a 3 day light period (but not that unusual as I was still breastfeeding dd1) and tested positive a week later. The really weird bit is as we were so infrequently Dtd (dd1 being a very crap sleeper) that she must have been conceived only 6 days prior to the "period"! So a 6 day literal phase...

I did with both my dc! DS was ivf and I thought it hadn't worked, went in for scan and there were 2 wee heartbeats, one of them made it and is now 13! With dd (2nd born) I had a period, one bfp and 2 negative hpt!! She arrived 2 weeks early bursting with life from day one and hasn't yet stopped for breath nearly 12 years later!!!
