low amniotic fluid

I am 32 weeks pregnant and have low amniotic fluid. I am being monitored for this, but tonight I was googling to see other people's experiences of this and almost everyone who mentioned it said they'd been advised to drink large amounts of water or had been put on an IV drip.My doctor said that what I eat or drink or do has little or no bearing on it when I asked if there was anything I could do to help improve it.

Has anyone on here experienced this? What were you advised?I don't drink massive amounts but I drink enough and am well hydrated but these people were being advised to drink 3-4 litres of water a day and rest lots,I am taking it as easy as you can in pregnancy no3 but wouldn't be drinking quite that level of water, prob more like 2litres a day.

Not that I think my doctor is wrong I just wondered if maybe all the posts I read were American or something and their standard advice is different?Anyone ever had this issue/been advised to do anything about it?

I had this with my d's. It was picked up at 34 weeks. I was told to rest and had very frequent scams to check the levels. I had a scan at 37 weeks which shown that the fluid had decreased more and was booked for induction at 38 weeks. My baby was born healthy but small. I was never told to drink any more. Just to take it easy and call unit for reduced movement or general feeling of being unwell.xx

Oh good, that's what I was told too.I was a bit worried the doc was assuming I was drinking 3-4 litres of water anyway!

Babiecakes, can I ask you what did a slow leak feel like.I've had what feels like two mini gushes over the last week but the swab-done 24hours later- showed negative.Did you have a sort of constant trickle ie would they always have been able to identify fluid was leaking or did it come out at random points with no leaking in between?

Hoping all goes well for you, they aren't sure if mine have gone or if they are low for some other reason but are leaning more towards low for another reason.I think I agree because I've only had two real episodes of what felt like a leak and it may just have been CM.I have weekly scans now to monitor fluid levels so we'll see how tomorrow's goes. All the best with yours, fingers crossed it stays in another few weeks but you've done amazingly to get to 35 weeks I think from the sounds of it!xx
