Hi all, wondered if anyone is doing slimming world whilst pregnant, thought be nice to have a little group to chat too, I'd obviously like to lose weight but maintain it more than anything.
Been 2 weeks now, I've lost 1.5lbs so far. Not a huge amount but I haven't followed plan 100% either. X

Hiya, I used to do slimming world but life the universe and everything got in the way! I am now pregnant with a booking in BMI of 32 so I have dragged out the old recipe books and although I am not going to group, I am trying to keep it under control! I am currently the same weight I was pre pregnancy and I am now 16 weeks. Would be great to swap recipe ideas etc

So pleased you posted this... I lost 2 stone with Slimming World and was gutted when my midwife pointed out that I could continue to attend class, however Slimming World will refer you straight back to your midwife if you lose more than 4 pounds during pregnancy.
This of course to me, was like saying there was no point going and as a result I've really piled on the weight in the last 9 weeks..
I'm still having my overnight oats for brekkie and 9 times out of 10 have a Slimming World friendly tea but lunchtime I seem to go mental...

following either interest Smile

I'm doing Slimming World, weight coming off steadily and really enjoying it but we are now trying for a baby, and I intend to carry on through pregnancy. Do you still go to group?

JesterJaffacake · 24/02/2015 13:32

gah *with interest.

impatience, why do they refer you back to midwife if you're losing weight? If (like me) you have a high BMI it can't be a bad thing, is it just to keep an eye on your health?

happygojo · 24/02/2015 13:33

Oh and if preg are you supposed to have extra healthy extras?

Jenny1231990 · 24/02/2015 17:09

She didn't mention the 4lbs thing. Maybe they have changed rules as I have to get midwife to sign a letter at next appointment.
Yes I go to group each Monday still and I enjoy going.
I get to choose 2 healthy a's and 2 healthy b's. No extra syns though xx

Watching this with interest as I'm thinking about rejoining Sw. I'm 22 weeks and still lighter than pre preg which is great (the one bonus of HG) but now I'm getting my appetite back I don't want to pile loads of weight on!

Hellohellohowareyou · 24/02/2015 18:57

Just weighed myself, still 5 lbs lighter than pre preg, woo hoo Grin

JesterJaffacake · 24/02/2015 20:17

hellohello that's fab!

Jenny, are you finding the free foods are satisfying you enough while pregnant? I have a ridiculously sweet tooth which I'm just about keeping under control, I eat a lot of frozen grapes Smile

Jenny1231990 · 25/02/2015 09:58

They do to an extent. I struggle more with missing out savoury stuff like bread ha. I have that hovis nimble bread. This week I bought loads of fruit and nearly all the way through it. Ha. Also muller lights. If I fancy something sweet il have something like that.
I've read that some things other people do is make up bags. So each bag contains 15syns like chocolate, or whatever they like, when they fancy something they can raid their bags haha.
I think things like Freddo chocolates are lowish. I can check for you if you like. X

Well done hello hello. That's fab.
I was 12st8lb at the beginning, I was actually just starting that juice plus diet. I didn't know I was pregnant at the time.
I'm now 29weeks preg and 13st3.5lbs. I'm determined to get back to my beginning weight ha.
Then Ideally I want to get to 9/10st. I'm only 5ft2 so can't afford to carry extra weight. Want extra energy. I'm also going to try up my exercise even just walking but I'm waiting an appointment to see if I have SPD so I struggle to walk far. X

I'm not sure why they do it to be honest but its on the Slimming World leaflet I got at group... I guess they get tetchy about your weight dropping. The leaflet also says that they're not there to help you lose weight during your pregnancy but monitor it. Have a wee look here www.slimmingworld.com/health/policies/pregnancy.aspx

For me, it was a fiver a week I could use elsewhere if I wasn't going to be allowed to lose but gotta say I'm kicking myself now as the weight is coming on thick and fast and at 9 weeks I cant blame the baby!!!

ImpatiencePersonified · 25/02/2015 11:20

Also forgot to say that my midwife said she preferred i signed up for the NHS programme than Slimming World although I fear she is fairly old fashioned!!

Jenny1231990 · 25/02/2015 13:49

Seems odd as nothing has been said to me, il mention it on Monday. When I lost 1.5lbs she said she shouldn't congratulate me really but well done. I could understand if I was losing 7lb a week (I wish ha) but 1-2 when over weight anyway can't be a bad thing. I eat more and more frequently , healthy on this diet than I ever did before x

I am :) I joined the day before I found out I was pregnant, am now 32 weeks and am still (just!!!) lighter than I was the day I joined :)

Jenny1231990 · 25/02/2015 18:24

Well done cherry lips. That's fab.
I don't measure my milk and that so not over strict as I don't have a lot of it anyway. I've bought some of the ready meals to try, I don't normally buy things like it they look quite nice, filling and free food completely. In Iceland if anyone fancys a try. Xx

I joined sw 2 weeks before falling pregnant. I am now 20w and 4 stone lighter! Consultant is supposed to refer you back if u lose more than 4lb in a week but I lost 9lb one week, she gave me a ticking off and told me to slow down but didn't refer me. I had my 16w appt the following week and told mw (who attends the same group ) and she said as long as it isn't that much every week it's ok because my bmi is so high (now 36) .
Must have 2 healthy extra a portions for the calcium.
Good luck

JesterJaffacake · 26/02/2015 19:31

the ready meals are getting good reviews on the whole in our group. I tried the sweet potato curry which was lovely (far too much) and the Singapore noodles, which were ok but noodles and veg a bit soft for me. Definitely handy to have a few stashed in the freezer for when time is tight, saves reaching for toast or something!

lmb that's great going, it makes sense now you've said 4lbs a week is too much, I misread and thought it was 4lbs over your pregnancy!
