Hi all looking for a little advice currently 34 weeks when should I start thinking of getting bras fitted for nursing?
Plan on breast feeding and seem to have milk already so should not be a problem!
What bras did you find best an where best to get fitted I live in Maidstone so not a huge variety of shops that I can get to but would like to be fitted.
Is it worth getting sleep bras to?

Thanks

This was my favourite - had it in a few colours.

I got a vest style one from Amazon that's really comfy.

Ooo Bravado! The seamless one has been an absolute revalation!!! I even started a thread about it! Grin I got mine from nursing bra. Com as they were cheaper than john Lewis. Love em.

I've had 3 babies, have done most brands, but Royce and Anita are the ones I kept returning to. Anita do the best under wired bras.

Word of caution, especially after my first my boobs went massive once my milk came in, then calmed down after a fortnight or so. The more children I had the less extreme the bra changes though. So my advice would be buy a roomy one at 38 weeks and get a couple of ones that accommodate cup growth that can be also be worn at night. Then once BF is established and your size stabilised buy another two.

You will probably need a sleep bra at first as you are likely to need support/something to hold the breast pads in place. Again, in my experience the more children you have the less you will leak after the first few weeks.

I am lucky we have an amazing lingerie shop in my town, you must get fitted properly if at all possible. I found Mothercare and M&S useless.

I preferred Hot Milk ones- they were really pretty and comfy. I got mine online at a really good nursing bra shop whose name I can't remember, but they have a very sizing and measuring guide, so I found the ones I got fit perfectly. I'm quite small-chested though, so don't know how they behave if you are larger-chested.

I have a House of Fraser near me closest department store so I may see if I am able to get measured there then as not many good reviews on Mothercare and M&S.
If I can find the pregnancy shop I will try them also but are pricey but might be worth it.

I never regretted spending money on nursing bras (think Royce were £20-30) as they are such an important piece of kit. You'll find you waste a lot of money on pointless tat in the baby's first year (bottle warmer anyone?)- bras are actually worth spending on! I stay fairly engorged until weaning so they are worn constantly for 6 months. They need to be durable and comfortable.

We were on an economy drive with DC2 but I treated myself to two new nursing bras as I knew how much I'd need them.

While the Anita is a nice bra, pay attention to sizing - it skips double letters, so their G-cup for example is really only an F in standard sizing.

hotmilk, mother care were my favourite, H&M do some but they were not very good and I really didn't like Elle McPhearson either. Don't get fitted for a decent bra until your baby is about 9 days old, just get 2 cheap ones for the immediate as when your milk comes in you will go from oranges to melon size.

I also bought cheap vest tops which were easy for access and feeding- if you are going to go running then do sports bra over feeding bra if your taking baby with you- i.e. if you have a running buggy.

I would invest now in a breast feeding pillow and nipple balm

Good luck, the best adventure in the world is coming your way!!

cuphat · 24/02/2015 10:19

I love the bravado seamless ones too.

skyra13 · 24/02/2015 14:46

I got a pillow and nipple balm! :D I shall get some sleep bras sport type to start me of then get measured after little one has popped out!!

Will look into some of the names though the hotmilk one are nice looking.
