I had bloods taken about 3-4 weeks ago by a nurse who was assisting my midwife. They all came back clear. Apart from suffering with high blood pressure (which has come down- back to normal) I have a really bad thirst. Y'day I drank around 5 pints of water in a small amount of time & fizzy drinks and coffee but nothing is ever enough. I still have a really dry mouth. I'm constantly peeing and tired all the time, I'm due back in work tomorrow after a week off sick put off by GP but I feel like I could sleep another week. Almost 22 weeks pregnant with mono-di girls.

Anyone else like this??

I'm 25 weeks with a single, but I have had a raging thirst, constant toilet trips and a touch of tiredness for months now. All my tests have been clear and I'm convinced it's just normal pregnancy stuff.

I find I'm eating a lot of fruit, because it satisfies my dry mouth for longer than just a drink.

All I'm doing it trying to keep my fluid intake as high as possible (I notice I feel a lot worse if I get dehydrated) and not get too annoyed at the constant toilet trips....

I feel a lot worse if I'm dehydrated aswell. I'm struggling while at work because I can't stand longer than a 15-30 mins without feeling dizzy and have to have a drink or some fruit.. Something quite sweet to keep my sugars up. If I don't I get banging headaches. I've just been for more blood tests now but today they're going to test me for diabetes for the first time which I'm nervous about because I eat healthy and exercise when I feel well enough too.
I've got an "emergency appointment" with a GP later this morning and I'm worried she'll put me off work for another week.

Me. I'm 9 weeks and have a terrible thirst. I asked the midwife about it at booking in and she dipped tested my wee for sugars in case I'm diabetic but it was all clear. She said your body is making twice as much blood as usual and all the amniotic fluid etc so of course you need more fluids.

I'm getting tested for diabetes today so will see what those results show. Hopefully they'll be ok aswell. Yeah that's true, no-one had said that to me but it does make sense. Just wanted to check I wasn't the only one.

Rebecca - is it definitely thirst or perhaps just a dry mouth? I had dreadful dry mouth in the first trimester which kept me awake at night - liquids made no difference apart from the few seconds after drinking.

Maybe try a dry mouth spray and see if that helps - I know Boots do one. I keep meaning to get one but it has got much better now.

Also drinking 5 pints of water in a small amount of time is probably making you feel ill - it's too much and is probably upsetting your mineral/ salt/sugar balance hence making you feel dizzy. You can't possible be dehydrated if you're drinking that much!

I'm 29 week and have been really thirsty all the way through my pregnancy. The only thing that works for me is ice lollies. Had to eat fruit for my dinner last night because the thought of anything hot made me mouth feel even dryer. My bloods and pee have been tested many times and are fine. It's just another pregnancy thing.

I won't worry too much about it then if others get it too. It's definitely a thirst. If I try to curb what I drink, I get really bad headaches. I realise 5 pints of water is too much but I constantly need a drink and feel light headed really quickly. Maybe I'll try lollis too.

After my appointment with my GP who tested my blood sugar levels, she informed me it was meant to read around 7.8 2 hours after meals... Mine read 4.1! She took my bp which was 136 then timed how long it took for it to drop When I stood up, 3 mins later it dropped to 119 she seemed really concerned and said that it went down fast but simply said we'll discuss your proper blood tests when you come back on Friday and put me off for another week. I'm really worried.
