Wheat free for pregnancy, will this affect baby?

From the start of my pregnancy, I've not been able to digest wheat, bloating off the scale, so I stopped eating it completely. I have now started to wonder if this is likely to give the baby a wheat intolerance? Btw I'm 14+5 and have had no nausea, cravings or aversions, so this isn't about any of that, I think I always had a bit if an issue but it's been exacerbated by being up the duff!

Don't worry. As long as you have a balanced diet otherwise it's absolutely fine.

Women with coeliac disease have to adhere to gluten free diets in pregnancy and have healthy babies.

Take a wheat/gluten free pregnancy multi-vit, folic acid and pregnancy omega-3 as a precaution but honestly if you are sensible with your food choices you can find the nutrients elsewhere in your food choices.

I am wheat free (gives me a horrible rash) and a former midwife and I have looked after tonnes of women with coeliac disease. It is totally fine. Just head to the gluten free section in the supermarket (Warburton's GF bread is good). I am just on a regular pregnancy multi vit with omega 3, and I eat lots of other grains, and a balanced diet (when the baby isn't asking me to eat gravy and chips!!). Smile
