Hello.
This is my first pregnancy, I am about 5 weekds. I had light pink bischarge when I wiped after a wee. Then this morning when I went t the bathroom I noticed a few drops of pink discharge dropping with my wee. Sorry for all the info! I rang hospital, they said nothing they can do, I have doctors appointment on Wednesday. Is this start of a miscarriage? How worried should I be? Has this happened anyone else? I have no idea what's normal or not, I don't want to lose this pregnancy. Please help!

Don't panic. Is most likely to be implantation bleeding. I had this first time and panicked too. There isn't a lot you can do at this stage. Your nearest EPU might give you an internal scan, take a urine and blood test and monitor your hormone levels over a week or two. If you're really worried you could try asking for this. Take it easy. I know it's hard.

I'm 6 weeks and the same happened to me a week ago (posted on here!) I calked the doctors the next day and they sent me for blood tests 48 hrs apart to check whether the hcg hormone levels are doubling as they should. I should get the results tomorrow. I'm also booked in for an early scan at the epu next Monday. Our hospital won't scan until 7 weeks.
I was told to call the doctor back if the bleeding gets heavier or if I'm in pain.

On the positive side I had exactly the same in my last pregnancy and now have a 2yr old.

Fingers crossed for you
x

Thanks for your reply. It is so hard. I took for granted that I would get pregnant and have a baby. Now I feel like that may not happen. I don't know if this is a common problem, or if I should be really worried. I haven't had many other symptoms and now wonder if it's because this pregnancy isn't going very well

Willow let me know how your results go, good luck. Does make me feel better this has happened and you had a successful pregnancy afterwards.

I had the same thing too though mine was brown discharge. I also had abdominal pain. Everything was fine and was told it was the placenta embedding :)

Aberdeen3 · 22/02/2015 17:16

That's great Auntie Dee! I don't know if should take another test, its so hard when a medical professional hasn't actually confirmed anything and I'm just second guessing my body, not sure if I have normal pregnancy symptoms or if I'm just having an easy pregnancy! I almost want to feel morning sickness and dizziness just to know all is ok!

Don't worry too much about symptoms as it's very early. I've felt queasy on and off today at 6 wks but this is the first time. Had slightly sore boobs but nothing else at 5 weeks.
I remember last time symptoms didn't kick in properly until about 7 weeks - and boy I knew it!!!

Steph0310028 · 23/02/2015 09:07

I am so relieved to read this thread - I am 5 weeks along and had a few light pink/brown spots around the date my period was due. I have been having pain on and off in my abdomen since and I have been really worried that something is wrong. I have a doctors apt today so hoping they will do a blood test or something to make sure all is ok.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 23/02/2015 09:30

I had brown discharge at 5 weeks which I was told was old blood. It was around the time I was due on my period too. I really wouldn't worry unless you have bright red blood accompanied by bad cramping. Cramps are normal too due to the womb growing but they shouldn't be constant or preventing you from doing normal activities

MumToBe2015R · 23/02/2015 09:48

Hi Aberdeen3 I had brown discharge followed by red discharge 3days later when I was 8wks. I really convinced myself I was having a MC due to also having a lot of cramping. But went to the EPU & they done a internal scan and all was well. Since then I've had my 12wk scan all was well. I'm 17wks now & have my 20wk scan in a couple of weeks. Hope all goes well with you Hun, try not to stress & rest. Xx

Thanks so much ladies! Well I went to the doctor this morning as had more spotting, dark brown this time. Doctor did a pregnancy test and a physical exam and said all is fine! She noted that I also bled on my smear test 2 months ago, which I had forgotten and said unless I get cramps or a lot of blood not to panic and it is far more common than we think. So fingers crossed for me and for all of you. Xx

Hi Aberdeen

Glad to hear the positive news from the doc - I've got an apt at 4.30 so fingers crossed I'll also have some positive news! When is your due date?

Aberdeen3 · 23/02/2015 14:15

Good luck Steph! Let me know how it goes. The doctor said that there's really nothing I could do either way and whatever course the pregnancy is on is the way it will go, sounds strange but made me feel better. I'm going to try and relax and not worry and hope for the best! At least we know we can get pregnant!
I am due the 23rd October! How about you? Good luck!

Thank you - will do. I know I was worried when we started trying that we would have difficulties getting pregnant so at least we know that part is all working! According to the due date calculator I'm also due on the 23rd of Oct!
I'm trying to get my head round what food is ok/off the menu, I had no idea there was caffeine in chocolate!!

NickyEds · 23/02/2015 16:07

It's really, really common. I don't know why women don't mention it moreConfused. I had a big bleed at 13 weeks with ds (think first day of a heavy period), went straight to A&E where they organised a scan for the next day. After The Longest Night Of My Life everything was fine (ds is now 14 months). I was told that it's very common and that bleeding, whilst a worry, is not unusual- pain is a more worrying factor. When I told my sister she mentioned that she'd had bleeding with all three of hers too.

Steph2310 · 23/02/2015 17:20

Just back from docs and he said similar to your doc Aberdeen - basically what will be will be! Trying to put it out my mind and just be excited. I've got an appointment with the midwife on Thursday so might still get sent for an early scan.

Christelle2207 · 23/02/2015 17:44

I've had this in both pregnancies. Was completely fine-mw was clear that unless it's bright red and/or accompanied by pain it's not a concern at all.

Choccyhobnob · 24/02/2015 13:39

I haven't had any bleeding but I did have horrendous pain at 5 weeks, like the worst period pain ever, lasting for half an hour or so then nothing at all. My midwife friend said it was probably the placenta embedding too. All was fine at a private 8 week scan.
