Bleeding, scared :S

Hi everyone

I'm 5 weeks 3 days (judging by lmp) and for the last 10 days or so I've had light bleeding everyday. It's mostly been brown blood but sometimes first thing in the morning I've noticed a small amount of bright red dripping into the toilet. It's never been heavy enough to fill a liner but every time I check there's a small amount of blood there. I went to the gp yesterday and she didn't say much but has booked me in for a scan on Monday morning. She was positive that the bleeding has gone on so long without getting heavier but I feel like I must have lost a lot of blood over all...

This is my first pregnancy and I'm absolutely terrified, this waiting and not knowing is driving me crazy and when I try to talk to my fiance about it he's sympathetic but just keeps telling me to 'stop thinking about it' and that if I keep worrying that the worst has happened I'm only going to make the worst happen.

Does anyone have an experience of bleeding like this? Is it likely to be ok or should I be preparing myself for bad news?

Paracetamol is safe during pregnancy pref a low dose

Pieface5 · 24/02/2015 09:07

Thanks, think I'll take one, information on the internet is really varied and contradictory but looks like one small dose won't do any damage...

When I first went into hospital in December with my (at the time suspected and unconfirmed) MC starting, they gave me paracetamol and codeine to help with the cramps. TBH if you are in pain I would just take them.

It's a horrible thing to go through and the waiting and not knowing is the worst part. Just take care of yourself and rest x

Paracetamol is fine to take the normal dose. Thinking of you op x

I spoke to the doctor, I'm going back in tomorrow for another blood test to see how the hormone levels are changing. She said the levels from my bloods yesterday are quite high and are still concerned about ectopic pregnancy. She told me she still can't rule out the possibility that the pregnancy will continue successfully but that I should be preparing for it not to as all the evidence so far doesn't look great. Sad

Poor you :( Paracetamol is fine. Ibuprofen should be avoided.

Nothing worse than being in emotional limbo! How is the pain/bleeding now?

Impatientwino · 25/02/2015 07:27

Hi pie, wasn't online yesterday so just seen that you're going back in today. I'm so sorry this is so dragged out for you. Fingers crossed you'll get answers today. I so hope you have good news Flowers

Hi pie just checking in to see how you are...

Thesuperswimmingdolphin · 26/02/2015 08:12

Another one checking in , thinking of you

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your concern, it's really touching. Thought I'd just let you all know what happened to me.
I haven't been on because sadly I have been in hospital.
The pain got quite bad on Tuesday evening and so rang the emergency number they gave me. I had to go in for surgery in the middle of the night, it was ectopic after all and they removed one of my fallopian tubes. Spent 2 days recovering on the ward and am now home being looked after by my amazing fiance.
Am seriously dosed up on painkillers and spaced out so I hope this makes sense, I may be typing complete gobbledygook for all I know haha!
Pie x

I'm so sorry. But I am relived you are getting well looked after.

Thesuperswimmingdolphin · 27/02/2015 18:10

I'm really sorry to read this news. I hope you feel physically recovered very soon.

Rosieliveson · 27/02/2015 18:31

I'm sorry Pieface. I've just read your thread and hope you're ok. I had an ectopic last year and had the same procedure. Be gentle with yourself, you'll heal quicker that way.

Impatientwino · 28/02/2015 19:49

Hi pie, sorry for the delay, I've not been on for a few days. I'm so sorry this has happened to you and over such a long drawn out period of time for you as well.

Glad to hear you're being well looked after. A good friend of mine had this happen to her in her first pregnancy, lost one of her tubes and she went on to have three healthy girls (separately!) just incase that's of any interest.

Rest up Thanks
