Maternity trousers

Hi, could anyone recommend some comfortable maternity trousers? Last time, I wore H&M over the bump jeans which were fine, but this time, I find them uncomfortable, repressive and tight. I'm only in my first trimester, but feeling bloated and generally a bit queasy, just want to be comfortable.

Would be nice to find some trousers with a very soft, stretchy, over the bump part, or not too structured under the bump bit if you get me? Tights tend to cut into me too, so been avoiding them. Any recommendations?

Really struggling this time round! I've clearly porked out a bit since DS1!

Thank you! X

Topshop maternity jeans are great

www3.next.co.uk/x555262s9#693131x55 these are really comfy.

I have been wearing Gap maternity jeans (over the bump) and a pair of black moleskin skinnies from Jojo Maman Bebe (over the bump) which have been great up until now (36 weeks) where the top is starting to feel a wee bit tight. I also have a pair of leggings from seraphine which are great opaque, super comfortable and have been worn/washed to death and look good as new (worth paying more for I think).

As for tights, I think the mothercare 60 denier black tights are the most comfortable ones I have found for work, soft and very generous over the bump bit and have also lasted ages without snagging - the M & S ones seem to be for ladies with usually short legs as the gusset seems to stop mid thigh and I am only 5'8 Hmm.

Tesco are doing some quite nice not-maternity trousers with elasticated waists which, I'm finding, are actually more comfortable than my maternity trousers. I've just bought a size up from my pre-pregnancy size and they're great. I'm 30 weeks.

Try Debenhams Red Herring maternity trousers. They are a bit like skinny jeans and has a lovely soft over the bump elasticacted band. There is a discount online I believe at the mo too.

Loads of places I wouldn't have thought of, so that's great. Looking to make a few good investments, so will have a look at all of these. Thanks! Hopefully find something comfortable soon.

I bit some skinny jeans in new look towards the end of my first trimester. V comfy. May not last whole pregnancy, but will do for some weeks. Also got some good jeans in m & s.

Green lizard, I'm short at 5,2, but remember buying tights last time and them falling down! Had to keep hoiking them up discreetly. I'll be planning a trip to Mothercare at some point, all going well, so will definately check out the tights.

Another vote for Topshop maternity jeans. The bump band is really soft and stretchy and doesn't dig in like others I tried. Plus they stretch comfortably as you grow and actually fit nicely like normal jeans around the rest of you!

Stinkylinky · 20/02/2015 19:08

The stretchy band in my red herring maternity jeans, it twists and never sits right!

Stinkylinky · 20/02/2015 19:09

*is a pain - missed that bit out!

OP I'm 5ft 1. The mothercare tights are enormous. The smallest size is 'small' and they're huge. I only bought one pair as in mat jeans 99% of time and boy am I glad about that.

Topshop for a new pair of smartish work jeans this time around although have always found them massive too so i bought a size smaller than my usual size. Weird but it worked. Got some gap mat jeans from last preg, the 'always skinny' style, again a size smaller than my usual. My legs are by no means unusually skinny - probably verge on chunky tbh - and yet I had to get my seamstress sister to take the legs in on the inside otherwise they would be hopelessly baggy.

Happy shopping!

I got a couple sets of jeans from next & they are so comfortable, the ones I'm in at the mo are under bump but have got some over bump ones too for when bump is bigger ??

Topsyloulou · 21/02/2015 09:50

Another recommendation for topshop maternity jeans, so comfortable & well worth the money.

I had work trousers from red herring maternity & they were very comfortable.

I found ASOS maternity tights to be the best. I didn't like mothercare at all & returned the second pack I'd bought. The H&M ones weren't bad either.

Luckystar82 · 21/02/2015 10:56

Jojo maman bebe the most comfortable for me

Got jeans (over bump) and black wide leg trousers for work

iusedtobecool · 21/02/2015 18:35

Went to a few shops today, and ended up just buying a top! Really liked the Topshop jeans, but couldn't decide which colour. Blue black or burgundy, so I left it. Was feeling queasy so didn't want to stay long. I might go back for the burgundy Joni jeans. Will try ordering next jeans too and pop into JoJo at some point.

I'm still very early in my first trimester, but so bloated already, that I need a few emergency trousers as I can't get into my usual ones. I was hoping to keep the pregnancy a secret, so hopefully my baggy top will help. Thanks again everyone.

Had such trouble with trousers (am currently 34 weeks pregnant) as am normally size 8 with no hips or thighs & boyish figure, currently look like bowling ball in wait area! Skinny jeans have been useless and many places only stock maternity wear online, so trial & error & spent a fortune in the first few months! Have one pair of size 10 Jo Jo Maman Bebe trousers for work (quite baggy on me, but comfortable), size 10 black linen Next Maternity trousers for work (comfortable, but chilly since round Dec time) and very recently found maternity under bump boyfriend jeans in size 12 from ASOS which are baggy, make me look like painter / decorater, but so comfortable. Bought some size 10 Next Over bump jeans about month 3-4 but about 1 week later they were just too tight. Wore some black leggings from sister & pair of her old skinny maternity jeans for a while (both likely Top Shop or H & M) but both have got too small & only looked good with knee high boots, which I can't wear any more as heels to high to balance properly. My sister similar size before her pregnancy, but even skinner legs as is taller so can fit in skinnies. Had her baby boy Nov 2014. Very few things fit my stomach or ankles, but my thighs are still quite slim, so a real challenge, figure is def more womanly these days...
