Is sex ok after a show?

Just that really. I've had a couple of sweeps which has resulted in me losing quite a bit of plug over the last couple of days. Is it safe to have sex to try induce labour if I have lost plug?

I believe it is perfectly safe until your waters go as the baby is still protected from infection by the sac. When are/were you due?

creamoftomato · 19/02/2015 12:58

Yep totally safe. never had as much sex before or since

Bondy83 · 19/02/2015 14:17

I'm due next Thurs but booked in for induction Saturday due to reduced movement

I probably wouldn't to be honest as it may be your hind waters, I thought i had had as how but it turned out that it was my waters that had gone.

I would ring the labour ward as they may want to see you if you are leaking fluid.

girliefriend · 19/02/2015 14:21

a show not as how!!

InfantHercules · 19/02/2015 14:24

The title of this thread made me laugh! Good luck with the delivery OP, hope all goes well.

I had sex after my plug had gone. Went into labour that night had baby next morning. Am sure it worked for us! Agree that I thought the risk of infection was only when your waters have gone, not your plug? There was no mistaking my plug for waters - icky lump of green red snot that it was!

Bondy83 · 19/02/2015 16:03

Cheers I'll jump on it tonight see if I can get him movingGrin

LOL, I thought, well it depends, I might not feel in the mood after Les Mis!

My midwife positively encourage me to have some 'rumpy pumpy' after she'd given me a sweep. I couldn't face it though after all that prodding!

Hakluyt · 19/02/2015 16:05

I would't- are you sure you're not leaking waters? I thought the plug usually went all in one go.......

mumxof3x · 19/02/2015 16:13

No plug can go in bits. Im having my 4th and been losing mine ages and im only 27+2 weeks (mucus plug regenerates). Some people can lose theres all in one go well into labour, some just lose bits at a time and then rest in labour. Its safe to have sex as long as waters havnt gone. Good luck :)

Bondy83 · 19/02/2015 16:13

No its definitely not waters. The plug is like lumps of brown/ red snot that keeps coming away some in big lumps some in small lumps it's been gradually coming away since tues.

Oh Bondy, I feel your pain, I went 14 days over and tried EVERYTHING! Only ended up with movement after having my waters broken for me and 15 hours on the drip! Good luck for Saturday, hope little one makes a move today for you!
