Six week scan empty gestational sac

I had a six week scan today (previous pregnancies ectopic and misscarriage). Only a gestational sac of about 5 weeks could be seen. No yolk sac or anything else. Does anyone else have any similar experience?

My first scan was an empty sack. By our dates, we were 6+3 but the empty sack dated us as 4-5 weeks. Currently 17+2 now have they offered you a follow up scan? Hopefully be good news for you x

Yes follow up scan in a week and hcg tests every two days. I just feel so miserable and sad about it after my previous experiences - trying to be hopeful but the sonographer said maybe I got my dates wrong but I used opks. Was yours a similar situation...not even a yolk sac? Thanks very much for replying btw I appreciate it xx

Awww bless you. Mine was a suspected ectopic, was absolutely nothing there, just a hole. She done an internal scan and still nothing. Said we were 4-5 weeks instead of the 6+3 we thought. We had to wait 3 weeks for next scan but by then he was measuring 8+3 then at 12 week scan he caught up a few more days to our original date. I really hope you have a positive outcome. i convinced myself I'd lost baby as our dates couldn't be wrong but they said the sperm can sometimes take a few days and he did catch up to our date (minus 3 days). I'll keep everything crossed for you, know the next week will seem a lifetime but hopefully your bloods will progress nicely and give you some hope xx

My first scan (carried out at 4 weeks due to gynae emergency) showed nothing, only a thickened endometrial-lining that indicates pregnancy (this is how I discovered I was pregnant!) At 4.5 weeks another scan showed a gestational sac but no yolk sac, so they were still querying ectopic at this point in case it was a pseudo-sac. At 5.5 weeks the yolk-sac was finally visible (on a transvaginal scan) and on scan at 7 weeks the heartbeat showed up.
So it might just be too early to see the yolk-sac at present.

thanks ever so much guys. i hope we get a happy ending like that. yes i think our picture looked like yours swanny but she didnt show me screen so only caught a glimpse. ive mentally convinced myself im having another ectopic - which isnt helpful. i was feeling sick snd being sick a week ago but nothing now - have been doing accupuncture though so trying to convince myself its that lol x

I hope you get a happy ending too. fingers crossed your bloods continue to rise and double then you'll have some idea what to expect at scan xx

Not good news my hcg at 2000 and it was 830 10 days ago when I had tests done privately. Looks like I'm in for another ectopic. What a bloody nightmare :( thanks for letting me know your story though, that's lovely and gives me a glimmer of hope for the future :) x
