I'm not entirely sure what I expect from this thread, other than a moan and wallow in self pity.

I have the shakes, temperature, full body aches and of course sore, swollen throat.
Doctor gave me penicillin and told me to take paracetamol for temp. I ache all over.

I also have a 3yo DD, we have already watched a film and its a gorgeous day outside. Feeling guilty.

Any one care to indulge my wallowing!

Poor you! I had it in my last pregnancy and I was totally miserable. It's not fun at the best of times but especially when you can't take much for it. I prescribe ice cream ;)

I had this last week- I can't remember feeling so ill before!

My poor 3 year old was parented by cbeebies all day Friday. Most helpful thing I found was gargling with salt water every hour. Really helped the pain and reduce some of the mank in my throat!

Feel better soon.

Poor you Sad.

I had tonsillitis twice during my last pregnancy (either end of the pregnancy) and it was miserable. Also had a 3 yr old that watched Thomas the tank Engine DVDs on loop while I lay on the sofa shivering and groaning. What else can you do? Needs must. You need as much rest as possible to recover.

The antibiotics will start to kick in soon and you'll feel a bit better. Promise. X

Yoghurt and ice cream were the only things that made me feel better when I last had tonsillitis. Make sure you get as much rest as you can as well x

I've had this today - tonsillitis sucks especially when pregnant and the doctor limits your meds. My doctor refuses to prescribe me anything, I have to be on my deathbed to get drugs out of him.

Is your DP/DH home to take over with your DD?

We stayed inside for most of the day, I managed 30 mins at the park before crawling back under my rock. Sad.

Oh poor you. Tonsillitis sucks.

Gargle with hot salt water - as hot as you can bear it - every hour or so, keep your fluids up and rest, rest, rest.

Strangely my throat doesn't hurt too much, it feels soreish and swollen, but not the usual razor blades I get with it. It's the muscle aches and the temperature shakes I'm struggling most with.

I have gargles with salt water and it improved some of the claggey horrible snotty stuff. I just hope the meds kick in soon. The penicillin seems to be exacerbating my heartburn too.

Not impressed!
