Hi just joined because I need some advice and reassurance. My period was due on 6 th of Feb, I took a test because we have been ttc it came up a faint positive ?? took another one Saturday morning the 7th was another positive ?? but started bleeding that day around 2pm. It only lasted 2 days where as my normal period lasts 4 days, I had hardly any pain with the bleed. I took another test Tuesday it still shown positive so told oh he went and brought a more expensive one, I took that one it came up negative ?? I went Drs Wednesday, she said she wasn't concerned because my bleed wasn't accompanied with pain but wasn't convinced I am actually pregnant so I have go to go back this Wednesday 18th. Since the last Drs appointment I have taken clear blue test (4 of them) they have all said pregnant but only 1-2 weeks which would make me 3-4 weeks but the weeks don't add up to what I should be which is 5+6 which has confused me even more. I'm hoping Dr will send me for blood tests our early scan as I have this massive worry that its an ectopic pregnancy. Very sorry for long essay I'm just really worried and confused x

Try not to panic. The clear blue digital are notorious for being unreliable and I would really really advise you to not rely on them for dates. I know of people who it never moved to 3+ weeks when they were well over 6-7 weeks pregnant and who have gone on to have normal pregnancies. The thing to focus on is everything is still saying you are pregnant. An ultrasound scan at this moment may not reassure you as it is possible they don't see enough of anything for definite so you would need to be scanned again in a week or so to confirm. This time after the test is probably the worst bit because you are in limbo land. I got my hcg levels checked privately two days apart so knew they were rising enough for it to be a definite possibility. If your GP won't arrange this it might be worth looking into doing something similar. A one off blood test won't tell you if the pregnancy is progressing it is the rising levels you are looking for.

Not sure whether my ramblings have helped but right now everything says you are pregnant so CONGRATULATIONS!! If you have sharp pains or bleeding contact a doctor but I really hope you don't and this is your time xx

Ok; if you get a positive test, there is hcg there, so you are, or were pregnant.
However you can't tell which from a pregancy test, since you will still get positives for a few weeks after a failed pregnancy. Neither can it give any indication of ectopic pregnancy.
IT's a little early to scan as its unlikely to be able to tell you anything. Best protocol at this point would be a bHCG test and then another 48 hours later. If the hcg is going up steadily, you are pregnant. If it isn't, you aren't or you have a failing pregnancy. Ectopic would also give a different reading.
Basically this is the only test guaranteed to give you good info at this stage, if your GP can't or won't do it, you can contact the local epau and request it.

Ok so I went Drs yesterday and she booked me in for blood test today, I have got to phone on Monday for the results. I've just been to the loo and I'm bleeding again. I don't think its going to be good news, this time the bleeding I'd like at the end of a period brown and thick.Hmm

i just want to wish you all the best. brown blood could well be old blood, so i think do your absolute best not to worry until you've had the results - i know that's impossibly hard. fingers crossed for you.
