Are they worth a visit? There is on approx an hour away from me, are the savings worth a drive or should I not bother?

Marking my place, interested in this too x

I have one close; the best way I can describe it is very hit or miss. Sometimes I've gone and got loads of fantastic bargains, other times I've found it full of over priced rubbish. Are you going for anything in particular? If you are wanting, say, a travel system and aren't stuck on a particular model, there are some great bargains to be had

Chocolatecakefan · 16/02/2015 21:42

The main things I'm looking for are:

Moses basket
Bed sheets
Bathing items
Monitor
Possibly car seat

I think it wouldn't be worth the trek. Sheets, bath, Moses basket can be picked up from high street stores for a better price than you will get there. They have only occasionally had monitors in when I've visited, and not at a better discount than I've got on say amazon. A car seat...maybe. You could always ring before your visit I guess?

BikeRunSki · 16/02/2015 21:48

I have one about 15 mins away. It's not worth it. There is nothing M&P make that can't be had cheaper or better elsewhere anyway, except maybe Mothercare. M&P are masters of form over function disguised under a hefty price tag. Unless you particularly love their quirky prints, then avoid.

D0nnaO · 16/02/2015 21:49

Do you have a mothercare outlet nearby? we've picked up lots of bargains from there & they always have a large selection. Our nearest one is about 2hrs away but near my parents so we kill 2 birds with 1 stone when visiting them Smile

gallicgirl · 16/02/2015 21:49

I've been to the Braintree outlet a few times but have rarely seen a bargain. Stock is limited and staff unhelpful.

Have you looked at kiddicare or incar safety centre online?

Chocolatecakefan · 16/02/2015 21:53

It was Braintree that I was thinking of...

Never mind, I won't bother! I just thought if there were some good bargains to be had then I could have a look but I'll rely on Amazon instead

Kiddicare are good on big ticket purchases like car seats. I think their only shop now is in Peterborough. Everything else on your list you can get from a big supermarket.

incarsafetycentre.co.uk/

Lots of good info here.

we did actually get our car seat from a regular M&P store when they had a sale.
Got the travel system from a local independent store so we could take it back if there were any problems.

Went to Braintree today, nothing you need any cheaper than the Ipswich store.
