Possible round ligament pain at 7 weeks?

Hello everyone- wanted to just pick your brains please! I have just had a coughing fit due to my inability to swallow water properly (I know, what a plonker). It resulted in a fairly strong pain in the lower left side of my stomach that lasted for about 20 mins before easing off. I can still feel it now, and it feels like I've pulled a muscle. I figure this sounds like round ligament pain (albeit on the left side rather than the right, although from what I've read it can technically be on either side) - but the reading I've been doing on the matter seems to indicate that it's too early for that. However, although I'm only 7 weeks +1, I already feel everything tightening up down there and can tell 'stuff' is going on! It's definitely not cramps as its a constant ache. It feels muscular.

I ask because I'm a little overly worried this time as last year I had a suspected ectopic pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage. Now this feels nothing like that, but not sure if you could actually call it RLP? It certainly matches the description of it if I were a little further along. Thoughts people? Have you experienced anything like this so early?

Hi, I experienced something very similar at about 9 weeks also having suffered from a bad cough. It felt just as you have described but on my left side. I mentioned it to my midwife at my booking in appointment a week later and she said it sounded like I had pulled a muscle. It eased off after a few days and haven't experienced any similar pains since. I totally understand how worrying every little twinge and pain can be as I too had a mc before my current pregnancy so can sympathise with you. It sounds like nothing to worry about but do get checked out if it persists.

Hi, thanks Hannah that eases my worries somewhat. Nice to know it's not just me! I guess it could just be a normal pulled muscle- I guess if I wasn't preggo I'd be thinking that! I've got first scan on Weds so I guess I can ask some questions there too :-)

I had round ligament pain early, too.

I had ligament pain from about 5 weeks - it hurt more then than now at 17 weeks

I definitely started getting RLP that early. Worse at night or when coughing or sneezing.

I've had it pretty much every time I've stood up quickly or sneezed or coughed in the last couple of days too. So yes, perhaps it isn't too early to get it! It's mad how our bodies change even when the baby is so teeny!
