Whooping cough

Hi ladies,
This is not about the jab, I intend to have this.
I am 12 weeks and my step children have whooping cough, they have just been to the doctors that's the verdict.
My question is, as we are due to have them at the end of the week should I camp out at my folks for a couple of days to avoid the lurgy?
I have had two colds since Christmas and I don't want to be ill again, esp with this with the lower immune system.
Does anyone know anything about this? It is advisable to stay away in the contagious part? Esp being a pregnant lady?
Thanks

I caught whooping cough when pregnant - not good. I was further along than you so the constant coughing with a big bump was not ideal! I had not been immunised as a baby, and caught it from someone at work (who didn't know they had it at the time) so not particularly close contact.
I would definitely avoid all contact with you step DC until they are clear of infection.
