Getting married in July, will be about 14 weeks, then supposed to be going to the Red Sea, Egypt. We went last year and it was fantastic, assumed I would cancel if pregnant, but should I really??

I did swallow some sea-water last year and got quite ill, I threw up for a day, what would happen if I got sick, ie. from food poisoning. When it happened the hotel were fantastic and took DP to hospital to get medicine for me(which all cost about 67p). But I would be unsure of ante-natal medical help.

SM,

I have just been to India at 18 weeks pregnant. We had a fabulous time - I think it was so important to just relax and enjoy being pregnant.

I was ultra careful about not swallowing tap, swimming pool or sea water and ensured that I ate carefully avoiding salads, ice and all but the cleanest looking restaurants.

I am pleased to say that I did not feel ill once. I this as long as you are careful there is no reason for you not to go.

Let your midwife and your consultant know beforehand that you are planning to travel and they will give you a check up to make sure everything is ok.

Also - if you are going to the Sinai (sharm el-sheikh) there are a number of hospitals: see here

Congratulations your pregnancy!!!

Smelmel, I went to Japan at 22-23 weeks pg and had no problems at all. Drink lots and lots and lots of bottled water and have a great time!

Hi, I went to Eygpt for my honeymoon in January, and I was 18 weeks pregnant. I was fine, I just watched what I ate and drunk. The rest will do you good! congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope you enjoy your wedding day as much as we did. Take care.

Juelgaz - Where in Egypt did you go??

And how did you cope with the fact that they serve 'warm' meat not piping hot??

Hi Smellymelly,
We went to Sharm-el-Sheik, it was lovely. We were very lucky because we were in an all inclusive hotel and the food was lovely, piping hot and fresh, the place was clean, but I was just careful what I ate. I drank lots of bottled water, and was told never to accept a bottle that had its seal broken. I was fine and hope that you will be too Juelgaz
