Spots on nipples

Hi there, can anyone help?
I'm 17 weeks pregnant, and I don't know whether what's happening to my nipples is totally normal or something to worry about.
This is hard to describe, but you know you have the proper sticky out nipple bit right in the middle, then the larger brown bit (areola?) round about; in that there is a circle of white dots. One of these (I think it is one of these, though I'm not quite sure) is really big, about 5mm round, not a dot like the others. It's also a different colour - whitey-pink instead of just a bit paler. Looks like a kind of reverse mole, if you see what I mean, and has the same kind of texture. It's just one spot on one nipple.
Then on both nipples, inside the ring of white dots, I have a black spot. Almost like a scab. This time one on each nipple.
What are these black and white spots, can someone help? Are they normal or are they weird and worrysome??

littlefrog i'm not certain but i am 18 weeks pregnant with no. 2 and i remember with my first pregnancy my breasts changed in all kinds of ways. think it is the hormones. i had a mole on my left breast which was almost like a scab, i fiddled around with it a bit and yesterday it came off, there is now nothing there at all, it worried me that it came off but the breast looks absolutely unmarked by it! i'm intending to ask the doctor but honestly dont think it is anything to worry about. i'd show your midwife or doc next time you see them but don't fret

I have exactly the same thing littlefrog (white spots) i think its the milkducts preparing themselves so they become more visable or something? Not sure what they are but i do have them.

hi

I'd say this is normal, I'm pregnant with No2 and this happened to my nipples both times around 16/17wks. My nipples went all bumpy and lots of white spots and a few black ones, they are milk ducts (the white ones are anyway). If you squeeze them tiny white stuff comes out, I'm 27 wks now and the tiny white stuff has just started to go watery and clear or sometimes yellow! (but only when I squeeze!)

Don't worry, is just another of those wierd pregnancy things. Nipples went back to normal after the birth!

I've got them too (18weeks now) - I read on one of the many websites/books I've looked at - it's perfectly normal. I can't remember which one, otherwise I'd refer you to it... This is my first. Don't worry.
