Early labour? (TMI Alert)

Just finished for maternity leave at 38+5 and when I got home found I had pink mucus in pants. Since then had bad constipation pains with some poo and gas and now what feel like period pains. DH has asked the internet and is swaying between imminent labour and could last for days.

Any ideas? I thought I'd get a few days before labour started!

DH and the cats are very restless. DH is drifting around not sure what to do. I quite want him to go to bed but know he won't till I do.

Does sound a bit like you've lost your plug! Get your bags ready..

jmojo · 13/02/2015 03:23

Get some rest if you can. Just in case it is a long one!

The cramps and mucus point to early labour to me. I just knew. The cramps felt different to normal preg cramps, do yours? Also are you a little bit restless?

JennyBlueWren · 13/02/2015 07:23

It is early labour! Contractions on and off all night -tried to sleep/rest inbetween.

So exciting!!!

JennyBlueWren · 13/02/2015 17:27

It's taking so long! Still at home but phoned the hospital who said to time them (I was just guessing from the clock before) and see how it goes over the next couple of hours. Turns out they are more frequent and longer than I thought.

I'm sooo tired -can't lie down for long though before the next one starts and then I have to walk to ease it.

It is classed as full term after 36 weeks, right? My first was born at 37w and ds2 at 39w.

Good luck and hope it all goes smoothly for you!

Sorry for lack of updates -I don't have a smartphone and hospital doesn't do wifi!

Baby James born at 9:16 on Sunday morning -60 hours in total!! Ended up with him back to back (not sure when he'd turned) so needed forceps but at least that speeded up the end.

Escaped from hospital yesterday (thought they were going to try to keep me in so I kept mentioning it -in laws and DH with the car seat might have helped) and midwife was round this morning and pleased with how we were doing (although I was embarrassed about the state of the house as had planned to do lots of tidying on maternity leave.)

Congratulations!

Midwives see houses in all sorts of states so I wouldn't worry.
