Hi all, I'm due in about 10 weeks but already I weigh as much as I did at the END of my first pregnancy! The baby only accounts for about 2 pounds right now, so why have I put on 35?! People think I'm due next week, it's so embarrassing. Not a big deal I guess, just wondering if this is normal!

I was the same skerriesmum. When I was 30 weeks pg I lost count of how many people said, "Not long to go then?"

I lost it eventually (the weight that is) so keep your pecker up, so to speak ......

Found this Skerriesmum. Not sure if you gain more weight second time round. I'm pregnant with 1st bub and have already put 2stone on, I've also got about 10 weeks left to do.

At birth, your baby will weigh approximately 3,300g (7.3lb).

? During pregnancy, the muscle layer of your womb (uterus) grows dramatically and weighs an extra 900g (2lb).

? The placenta (afterbirth), which keeps your baby nourished, weighs 600g (1.3lb).

? Your breasts weigh an extra 400g (0.9lb).
? Your blood volume increases and weighs an extra 1,200g (2.6lb)

? You have extra fluid in your body, and amniotic fluid around the baby, weighing 2,600g (5.7lb).

? Plus, you will lay down some fat during your pregnancy to provide you with extra energy for breastfeeding. This comes to about 2,500g (5.5lb).

i put on just a few pounds first time, secomd time it was 3 stone!!!

OK, that's somewhat reassuring. During the last ultrasound they thought there was a little more fluid around the baby than usual, (not to a dangerous level apparently.) Ghosty and mumofmonsters, how long did it take you to lose the weight?! Last time I was actually the thinnest I'd been in years during breastfeeding so I hope that'll be the case again.

I loved how quickly all the pregnancy weight came off last time - along with all the weight I'd put on since I was 18, I think . I'm hoping and praying it comes off again as quickly this time round ... though I think age might just be counting against me now!
I can't wait to wear clothes with waists again, though
